Iddat For Talaaq Given In Menstruation

Q. When talaaq is given whilst in the state of menstration, how long is the iddat period and in normal situations how long would one have to sit indoors.

A. Talaaq during menstruation is valid and effective. The Iddah of Talaaq for a female who is menstruating is three complete menstrual cycles. If Talaaq was issued during menstruation, the period in which the wife received the Talaaq will not be counted. She has to count three complete menstrual cycles thereafter.
