Translation: The causes of marriage of Muslim girls with non-Muslim boys and its prevention If you are present in a civil and gracious gathering and an old man arrives who is wearing a skullcap, the colour of which is just like that of red chilli. His shirt is dark green in colour and dhoti is yellow just like turmeric, then that man would probably be the centre of attention for everyone. And it is not far fetched that some people would start doubting his mental health. The reason is not that such three-coloured dresses are prohibited by law or religion but because all three components of dress do not match and complement each other in terms of colour. That's why upon seeing such a man, it will come to mind that this is an uncivilized man from some rural area or he is not mentally fit. Therefore good taste demands that a man wears clothes which compliment each other. Similarly there is another dress which a man selects for himself for his entire life. This dress refers to the lifetime companionship which he will acquire after nikah. The Qur'an has declared that husband and wife are dress for each other. هُنَّ لِبَاسٌ۬ لَّكُمۡ وَأَنتُمۡ لِبَاسٌ۬ لَّهُنَّۗ (al-Baqarah 187) because the dress is a secret keeper for the body of human and conceals its weaknesses. It is a companion of winter and summer. It protects him from hotness, cold and rain and it is also a cause of beauty for his body. The husband and wife should also treat each other in the same manner. They should also conceal each others flaws. They should comfort and remain with each other in good and bad times. They should serve as a means of dignity and honour for each other through their personality and character. Therefore just like it is important to look for matching and complimentary characteristics while selecting a dress, similarly while selecting the dress of your life i.e. your spouse, it is important to look for these matching features. Referring to the same thing, Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم said that a man sometimes marries a woman for her dignified lineage, sometimes he looks at her wealth and property amd sometimes he sees her beauty and charm. All these criterias do not ensure success. The fourth criteria is her religious commitment and Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم has guaranteed success for those who use this yardstick. (Sahih Bukhari, Hadeeth number 4700) So the biggest yardstick for a Muslim is righteousness and character. A religiously committed husband cannot love and cannot attain contentment and satisfaction from a non-religious wife and vice versa. Therefore it is encouraged to look for righteousness when selecting a spouse. Though it has not been declared wajib, but it has been encouraged because it is possible that a strayed person can come back to the right path and a sinner Muslim can become righteous. However when the difference is not religiousness but religion in itself, meaning husband believes in one religion and the wife believes in another religion. One does not prostrate before anyone except God, and another prostrates and bow down before every creation then how can they develop understanding with each other? It is possible that in their emotions, two people belonging to different religions can marry each other. However when time will pass and their love will start diminishing, distance will increase, both will start thinking about going back to their real life. They will dispute about children and both will desire that their children start following the religion they believe in. Their children's marriage issues will also be very difficult, because no one from both societies will desire to accommodate them and they will get alienated by both paternal and maternal relatives. The fundamental wisdom behind this command is that it is important for the sustainability and stability of their marriage and for the pleasant relationship amongst the spouses that the husband and wife should have harmony in their thoughts, beliefs and practices. If this harmony does not exist, it will give rise to hatred and the purpose of nikah will not get achieved. Therefore Muslims have always adopted this attitude that they have always been on the forefront in their tolerance, brotherhood and love with non-Muslims. They have progressed in economy, trade and politics in each others companionship. However they have maintained their identity in the case of marriage and they have protected their family's internal environment from strange foreigners. Therefore the environment of their home remained Islamic. Just imagine that your whole family is taking benefit from the blessings of Ramadhan; everyone is fasting during the day and is busy in doing dhikr and reciting the Qur'an, nights are spent in taraweeh and tahajjud, sehri is being eaten before dawn, Allah is being invoked in du'as and on the other hand your daughter in law or your son in law is not familiar with prayer, they aquire the pleasure of food during the day and spend their nights singing bhajan (devotional songs and hymns) so how can they adjust themselves in this house? Alas! This awareness has been declining and the incidents of Muslim and non-Muslim marriage have been increasing. Previously the incidents of marriage of Muslim boys and non-Muslim girls were heard. Obviously this is also not allowed in the Islamic law, but the matter has now gone beyond that. The incidents of Muslim girls going out with non-Muslim boys are increasing. In the past such one or two cases would shake the whole society but when the people of a particular area become used to earthquakes, then these earthquakes stop elevating their heart beats. Similar situation is seen in the Muslim society, it seems like people have become used to hearing such cases. The reality is that it is a very important social issue. It is necessary to ponder over this matter seriously and to find solutions of this problem with wisdom and insight, otherwise it will become difficult to keep the religious identity of the next generation intact. After 1967 several Palestinians were given refuge in America and Britain, a significant number of Turks got residence in Germany. Through planning, the Islamic honour was removed from the hearts of these immigrants. They were got convinced regarding the inter-religion marriages and now the situation is that they have now lost their identity. It cannot even be imagined upon seeing those people that their ancestors were Muslims, Arabs or Turks. Do we also want to suffer from the same situation in this country? Apparently their are three main causes of marriage with non-Muslim girls: first extravagance in marriages, second: the academic incompetence of Muslim boys, third: coeducation. The extravagance in marriages has so much increased that now layperson's marriage is defeating the marriages of the past kings and nawabs. The rich people have made it a means of showing off their money. The middle class people sometimes get forced to sell off their properties due to this. And if the weak class is away from religion, then they start thinking of ways to get rid of their children, whether they enter a Muslim's house or a non-Muslim's. Until and unless the rich people of the society start adopting simplicity, there is no chance of seeing any sort of change in this condition. Therefore it is necessary that just like in instances of natural afflictions, the campaigns of help and rescue are launched, similarly for introducing simplicity in marriages, Ulama and Mashaikh, social and political leaders, journalists and intellectuals, religious organizations and parties should start a campaign and they should knock on people's doors and encourage them to conduct their marriages in a simple way. The academic situation is that girls are making progress in education and it seems like boys have commenced their journey towards decline. The result is that the educated girls do not find their equal match. In the present condition it is not possible to force the girls that they abandon education, especially in these circumstances when efforts are being made to give them 50% share in all fields of life. In this condition, if Muslim girls give up education then these 50% seats will automatically be acquired by others without any effort. And then the competition which is present in the acquisition of education, especially the facilities being offered to girls, after this your advices in this regard will not bear any fruitful results. Therefore it is important to develop this attitide in boys that they start progressing in the academic struggle. If this awareness is developed in all Muslim homes then it will not happen that equal match is not available for young educated girls. Secondly it is important to nurture the wisdom and insight of these educated girls that for a Muslim, the main cause of pride is his being a man of iman, not his being more educated or more wealthy, because education and wealth are not enough; Iman is extra precious jewel. For a Muslim girl nothing can be more disgusting from the state that she has made such a man her companion of life who lacks iman. The third cause of these incidents is "coeducation". The free mixing of girls and boys is destructive not only in terms of moral values, but it is also harmful on the basis of learning psychology. But alas! the educational institutions which are under the administration of Muslims, they too very proudly declare that they have "coeducation". This education system is not only harmful significantly for the Muslims but also for the whole Indian society. Therefore it is the responsibility of Muslims that they establish more and more separate institutions for girls and boys at least upto the level of junior college, and if it is not possible to establish separate professional colleges then atleast temporary partition (wall) should be kept in classrooms that separates the places of seats of girls and boys. Also in Muslim areas efforts should be made to convince the Government to establish girls schools and colleges. It is the blessing of Allah that currently in most small and big cities, Muslims are establishing educational institutions. If all Muslims decide that above the level of primary schools, they will make available separate institutions for girls and boys then it is an estimate that 50% Muslim girls and boys will inshaAllah be protected from the harms of coeducation. Though there are also other causes of these unpleasant incidents, but they become the cause of one or two incidents. These three causes are more important and it is necessary that Muslims ponder on this and the nurturers of Ummah should find out the solutions of this indescribable situation with complete seriousness, lest our today's negligence will become the cause of tomorrow's flood and then it will not be possible to hold back the water with dams.

Never miss your breakfast Shaykhul Islam Mufti Taqi Usmani D.B states: I was once accompanying my Shaykh Dr Abdul Hay during his travels. After Fajr I went to sit in Shaykh's company. Shaykh enquired whether I had had my breakfast. I replied in the negative. Shaykh further enquired for the reason. I responded that the hosts had yet not offered it. Shaykh replied, "I am not enquiring about that breakfast. I am enquiring about the breakfast for your soul, which is in your control. Take out some time in the mornings for Zikrullah, remembering Allah. This is the breakfast for your soul." Shaykh continued, "When a person has something to eat in the morning, it serves as energy and a source of strength for his body. If a person leaves home without breakfast he ends up struggling at work. Similarly if you present yourself before Allah (in the masjid) and do Zikr of Allah swt, this will serve as a spiritual breakfast for you, and your soul will acquire energy and strength. After this when you go out you will confront your Nafs and Shaytan. If you have had your spiritual breakfast you will find within you the energy and strength to combat your Nafs and Shaytan. They will then not be able to defeat you." Darse: Sha'bul Imaan. Page 150.

28 ways for Youth to Spend Everyday of their Lives! By Hamza AsadullahWe all know how uncertain life is and most of us may directly or indirectly know of young people who have passed away. Knowing this fact then what is it that is fooling us into thinking that we may not be next? What is stopping us from thinking that the next grave to be filled is not ours? Our youth will come and go very quickly and if we waste it then we will regret it forever in the Hereafter without a doubt. Therefore the best time in a persons life to do good deeds is whilst in our youth. This is the time to gain good habits that we can adopt and practice for the rest of our lives inshaAllah. So rather than spending endless hours on video games, movies etc then we should be spending our time wisely by doing good deeds that will benefit us and our communities. This is the best time in our lives to get closer to Allah! There is no time like the present and there may not be a tomorrow! So now is the time to make the changes is now before it is too late! Remember that we are on a journey in this life to the Hereafter which will last forever. This short temporary life can end any second for us. We are being tested like we are in an examination room and Allah is the examiner. However in this exam we know not at which moment it will end. Therefore we must be prepared just like we prepare for a journey or an exam. If we are unprepared and have nothing to show when we face Allah then we would have failed this exam and missed out on the one opportunity we have in this life to be the best we can possibly be in order to please Allah and achieve the highest Jannah possible! Here are some tips on how the youth should spend everyday of their lives in pleasing Allah and getting closer to him before death overtakes us: 1. Having a good sleeping patternWe need to structure our day and also get ourselves into a proper sleeping pattern where we sleep and wake up around the same times so our body gets used to it. The best time to sleep would be around half 10 no later than half 11 and this ensures that we can easily wake up for Fajr Salah and even wake up for Tahajjud which is one of the best prayers after Fard Salah and the best way to get closer to Allah and achieve high ranks in Paradise! We should try to sleep and wake up around the same time so our body would then adjust to this pattern and we would even end up waking up naturally around the same time. Sleep is meant to be for nights and the day is meant to be for activity so make sure you don't spend the nights awake if there is no valid reason for it or if it is not necessary to be awake after 11.2. Exercise We should try and exercise at least 30-45 minutes a day. The best exercise is in the morning where one can go for a jog or swift walk or a gym which may be better motivation for most. It is best to do some resistance training as well which also aides in weight loss and keeping body in good shape for Ibadah (worship). If you exercise then you will be able to get good sleep and also get up in the mornings easier especially for Fajr. So make a routine of going to the gym at least 3 to 4 times a week or doing 45 minutes swift walking a day or a jog in the morning or any part of the day. Cycling is also good as it takes the pressure of the knees. 3. Limit time watching TV, playing video games and on the computerWe should try to Limit our time watching TV and spent playing games and on the computer otherwise one can easily get carried away and spend hours on end watching TV, playing games and on the computer and waste significant amounts of time which we can NEVER get back!. 4. Watch what you eatIt is very important one eats right as what we eat will effect us day to day and many foods will make us feel lazy and lethargic which will effect our Ibadah (Worship). Therefore what we out into our stomachs everyday is extremely important.5. BreakfastWe should always eat a good breakfast because it would give us the best start to the day. The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) used to have honey in some warm water when he woke up. This cleanses the stomach. A while later a good breakfast to have would be oats and porridge as they slowly release energy and most other cereals have way too much sugar in them. Of one can have some yogurt with honey and fruit. One can sweeten ones porridge with a little honey. One can also have brown wholegrain toast with boiled egg. 6. Lunch Have a light but filling lunch because if our lunch is too heavy then we will certainly begin to feel lethargic later on in the afternoon so make sure you don't have a heavy lunch. It is best to avoid fried foods and too much carbohydrates at lunch as in too much rice, pasta or potato as these can make you very lethargic later on in the afternoon. Stick to eating a healthy wholegrain bread sandwich with salmon, tuna, chicken with salad or soup with some brown bread. Whatever you eat make sure its not too heavy as this will make one very tired towards the middle to end of the afternoon and make one groggy after coming home from work especially after a long day.7. Snacking Avoid snacking on too many crisps, chocolates and biscuits. Rather replace with fruit with yoghurt or healthy snacks. Avoid too much coffee and tea throughout the day because ones body can get used to it and one would end up getting headaches and groggy if one doesn’t have tea or coffee. Stick to a cup or two of green tea as this is a very good source of antioxidants.8. Evening meal The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) recommended eating evening meal so one should have a good meal in the evenings but again not too heavy because the heavier the meal the more harder it will be too get up in the morning for Fajr and work. Have a high protein meal with more fish and chicken and meat about twice a week. If one does not eat meat then replace with tofu, Soya products and paneer (indian cheese) in a healthy stir fry with vegetables. Try not to have too much rice or too many chapatti’s. Always have as much fresh vegetables and salad as you can with your meals.Best to eat between 6 to 7 and no later because one should eat no later than 4 hours before sleep.9. Balanced diet Have a good and balanced diet not eating too much of any particular thing. Have plenty of fruit and vegetables of different varieties as our body needs a variety of vitamins, minerals and nutrients. Don't rely on supplements rather take your vitamins and minerals naturally from healthy and fresh food.10. Brain food Almonds are a very good brain food as are oily fish which contain a lot of Omega 3 oils like Mackerel, sardines and salmon. Also opt for a lot more wholegrain in your diet like whole grain bread, rice and pasta. Seeds are also brilliant so get some mix seeds and put some in your porridge or on some yogurt with honey every morning or as a desert or snack with honey. Have a lot of tomatoes as well which contain a lot of lycopene which is really good for your brain and for your skin.11. Structure day Structure your day properly and try to make a timetable or plan for yourself. You have to be determined and think to yourself "I cannot waste anymore time like this for death can come at any second and I need to make the best of my time". Making the best use of time in our lives is crucial. The time we have now has to be spent as much as possible worshipping Allah or no doubt it will become a source of regret for us in the hereafter. Here is what you can do to make the best use of your free time:12. Salah (prayers)We should all be praying our Fard Salah everyday 5 times without fail. If there is a discrepancy in our Fard Salah then we should really sort our act out because this is very serious. Watch this short clip on the importance of Salah:Why do you not pray? https://youtu.be/Nby1TfsVIYE On top of praying our Fard Salah we should also pray our Sunnah Mu’kkadah which is the Sunnah that we should read unless we have a valid excuse includes 2 Sunnah Mu’kkadah before Fard of Fajr, 4 Sunnah Mu’kkadah before Fard of Dhuhr and 2 after Fard of Dhuhr 2 after Fard of Maghrib, 2 Sunnah Mu’kkadah after Fard of Isha. The Ghair Mu’kkadah is the Sunnah is not emphasised but we should still read it as it is a lot of reward and a means of getting closer to Allah. These include the 4 Sunnah before 4 Fard of Asr and 4 Sunnah before 4 Fard of Isha. As much as possible we should try to pray our Nafil Salah as this is one of the best ways to get closer to Allah and it also makes up for any deficiencies in our Fard salaah. Here are the nafil prayers we can pray everyday in addition to Fard and Sunnah:VERY Rewarding Nafl Salaah’s we can Pray Everyday!http://www.islamicboard.com/worship-...-everyday.htmlWe should try our best to do all of our Fard, Sunnah and nafil everyday as we need as many good deeds as we can whilst we are alive and will regret the good deeds we missed out on. 13. Dhikr (Remembrance of Allah)The easiest thing to do each day is the Dhikr and glorification of Allah. Rasulallah (Pbuh) advised us to always keep our lips moist with Dhikr. This is also one of the best deeds and once we get into the habit of it, it is the easiest and feels the sweetest in ones heart. The more Dhikr we do the more good acts like will gravitate towards. If we remember Allah all the time then we will remember the world less. When we remember Allah then Allah remembers us. If we forget Allah then Allah forgets us. Dhikr is so east that we can do it anytime and anywhere especially in our free time, when were at school, college, university, work, or even out shopping or in paying a bill. Whatever were doing we should remember Allah and keep our lips moist with glorifying him. It is best to use our fingers or a rosary (Tasbih) or even a metal Dhikr counter which is available in any Islamic shop. The reason why it is best to use a rosary and a counter is because they are the best reminders for one to do Dhikr in the first place. When you have it in your hands then you get reminded to do Dhikr but if you don't then most often you would forget or not do as much as you could do if you had a counter. I would recommend all to get a metal counter which I find most practical as one can use it where ever one maybe. You click the metal counter every time you repeat a glorification of Allah or a durood and you can count your Dhikr so as to quantify it so you can do different types of glorifications. One should never let Shaythaan put one off doing Dhikr and one should note down how much Dhikr or glorifications one I going to do everyday so as to remind one self what one has to do. It is always best to keep targets so as to reach them otherwise one will not have any goals or motivation to do it in the first place. Here are some glorifications we can all do everyday and it is best to make a minimum target how much of each we are going to do:Easy Dhikr (Remembrance of Allah) light on the tongue but heavy on the scales! http://www.islamicboard.com/manners-...vy-scales.html14. Reciting the Qur’an One of the greatest worship is reciting the Qur'an. We actually get rewarded for every letter that we read and we will be raised in Jannah depending on how much we recited and memorised so we should try our best to recite as much Qur'an as possible and also memorise as much as we can. We should set ourselves a target of memorising at least an Ayat a day and make effort to memorise Sura’s like Surah Yaasin and Surah Mulk which a believer should have in their hearts. You could consider buying a smaller copy of the Qur'an which you can carry around with you and read whenever you have free time or on your breaks. We should set ourselves a target of reading at least 1 juz (chapter) a day. If not then at least half a chapter a day or as much as one can read but it is best to set a target so one will do their best to reach it. Reciting the Qur'an which is the sacred words of Allah and the most beautiful and best words in the universe is one of the best ways to spend our time. On top of reciting the Qur'an in Arabic those of us that are non Arabs should also read its translation and tafseer so as to understand what we are reading and understand what Allah is telling us in the Qur'an and ponder and contemplate over it. One of the greatest deeds we can do is to read what Allah has written in the Qur'an and implement it into our daily lives. Once you have read the meaning of the Qur'an and ponder over what Allah is saying then you will feel the most amazing feelings you have ever felt it is truly beyond words! Here is a brilliant translation of the Qur'an for you to download as a PDF file for free:http://islamicbulletin.org/free_down...mufti_taqi.pdfSo set yourself a target of how much one will recite and how much of its meanings will one read. A good way of doing it is read a chapter or half a chapter and then read its meanings. Or whatever one finds easiest.15. Acquiring Islamic knowledge There is so much to learn in Islam so get some good and reliable books on Islam that you would enjoy reading and learning about. It is always best to start from the basics and then build your way up. So get advice from those who are learned as to which books you should read and where you should start from. Here is one of the best books for learning about the basics of Islam including Tawheed, how to pray do Wudhu, Ghusl. It also contains stories of the Prophets and much more. It is written in a very easy to read language style and is a very enjoyable read where one will be better acquainted with the basics. It is available to download for free as an E book in a PDF file along with many other free E books to download on the basics of Islam and much more:Islam Beliefs and Teachings:http://islamicbulletin.org/free_down...m_children.pdf16. Building a close relationship with the Masjid If you are a brother then know that all Muslim males should read their Fard prayers at the Masjid and one should not be praying Fard salaah at home without a valid excuse. The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) has said that a person who prays at home without a valid excuse then he would get the youth to gather together wood to burn those houses. He is saying this as a metaphor but we should take it as a warning. Salah in the Masjid is rewarded up to 27 times or more than a prayer at home. That is a lot of reward. So if there is no valid excuse then you should be praying all of your Fard Salah at the Masjid and one can and should pray their Sunnah and nafil at home. If you’re a female then you should pray at home and you will get the same reward as a person who reads at the Masjid. If your a male and have a Masjid within 20 minute walk then you should try and walk there for all of your Salah or as many as you can go to. This would be reward for you as well as exercise.Build a close relationship with the house of Allah because it is the most favourite place of Allah and the worst places in the sight of Allah are the market places or in modern day times the high street and shopping malls where one will find a lot of fitna (trials and tribulations) and evil.17. Repentance and Dua We should realise that Allah is most merciful and he loves it when his slaves ask of him in Dua and repent to him for our shortcomings, mistakes and minor and major sins. Dua is the weapon of the believer therefore we should use it as much as we can in our daily lives and ask of Allah to help us in EVERY aspect of our lives. We should try to share everything with him no matter how big or small it is and we will find much peace and solace in making Dua to Allah! We should not keep dwelling over the sins we committed in the past. What’s done is done now we have to look to the future and not keeping looking at our past. We should take lessons from our past and do things better now and the future. We should be remorseful over our past and present sins and have the intention of NEVER committing them again and make sincere repentance feeling bad about the sins we have committed. We should constantly ask for forgiveness always and have hope in Allah that he will accept our repentance. We should also realise that Allah hears every dua and if you think he is not accepting your dua then it is because he has something better for you because as humans we tend to think we know what is best for us but we clearly don't as ONLY our creator knows what is best for his creations. So never stop asking of Allah for Allah gets angry with those who don't ask of him:"Whosoever does not make dua to Allah, He will be angry with Him." [Saheeh Jaami`as-Sagheer #2414]18. Choose your friends wisely Once you have built a close relationship with the Masjid you then you will have built a closer relationship with Allah. If you’re a brother then one will find good and pious brothers at the Masjid where one has the opportunity in meeting good and pious brothers who will benefit and help us towards the right path.If your a sister then join a sisters circle, halaqas and sisters programmes as these are beneficial gatherings where you can learn knowledge and mix with and find good and pious sisters who you can befriend and a good friend will help you towards Jannah and encourage you in doing good deeds which will please Allah and the bad friend will have the opposite effect. We should try to spend as much time as possible with pious, righteous and learned people and keep away from keeping bad friends and those who are loose in their talk and have a bad influence towards you. These people are not your real friends trust me. The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said,“The case of the good companion and the bad companion is like that of the seller of musk and the blower of the bellows (iron-smith). As for the seller of musk, he will either give you some of the musk, or you will purchase some from him, or at least you will come away having experienced its good smell. Whereas the blower of the bellows will either burn your clothing, or at least you will come away having experienced its repugnant smell.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]Remember: “All friends will be enemies of one another on that Day (Day of Judgment) except those of the virtuous.” (Al-Qur’an 43:67)One of the most important things we must do, which sadly many people neglect, is that we should avoid bad company. People we should avoid taking as friends those who speak too freely, who miss Salah, who do not dress modestly, who backbite, slander etc. The company of such people is poison; just even sitting and talking with them will lead one to commit sins. Just as a person who sits for a long time with a perfume seller begins to smell nice, and a person who sits by a gutter cleaner begins to smell awful, similarly a person who spends time in the company of the wicked eventually gets affected badly by them. Rather, we should seek out pious friends who fear Almighty Allah and who have the qualities of humility, charity, compassion, modesty and knowledge. If we sit with them we will always benefit and they will be a means for us to get closer to Allah the most compassionate most merciful and kind!19. Being the best towards others in character and manners Many of us think that “a perfect Muslim” is simply one who is correct in the observance of the salaah (ritual Prayer), the fasting, the Zakaah (payment of a certain portion of one’s wealth to the poor), and the Hajj (pilgrimage to Makkah). This indeed is not the case.If the ritual observances do not help the person to be humble, virtuous and truly God-fearing, then he or she is not a real Muslim. A Muslim should be good and just in dealing with others, no matter their religion, and take special care to keep away from all the shameful and sinful things Allah has forbidden. One can never get close to Allah by being arrogant, full of pride and having a bad character and manners. Those who have humility and are humble and have good character and manners are the closest to Allah and Allah raises their ranks in the hereafter. The best person is the one who is best towards others.20. Spend time with family and maintain ties between family and close relatives who are mahram Don't forget to spend time with your family and close relatives as Islam emphasises a lot about maintaining ties of kinship. If there is a dispute then be the first to try and resolve it or get an elder of the community or family involved to mediate matters and get advice from a learned scholar. The disputes should not be allowed to continue because of petty worldly matters and should be resolved straight away. 21. Keep away from non mahram and be-friending members of opposite sex One should not be mixing with or spending time with any family or relatives that are non mahram and one should certainly not be alone with any of them as Shaythaan is always third party when a mahram and non mahram are together. One should also not be mixing with those of the opposite sex because Allah tells us to keep away from anything that leads to adultery and be-friending a member of the opposite sex always starts off with something innocent and leads to haraam and major sin so totally avoid contact with the opposite gender for it is only for your own good. It is Shaythaan that deceives one into thinking that it is ok to befriend the opposite sex but the main aim of Shaythaan is to take us towards destruction and HELL! So let us not listen to our enemy but abide by the commandments of Allah and know that he sees all that we do!22. Keep away from sin by fearing Allah and remembering death can come ANY second! We constantly get distracted in our daily lives as to our purpose in this life and why we are here. That is why we should constantly remember death as death is the destroyer of all pleasures and brings us back to reality that we are mortals and that our time here is only very temporary and can end at ANY second. Read more here about death the destroyer of pleasures:https://youtu.be/BldeU7hwakM25. Having the right intentions Everything can become a reward for us with the right intention. That includes education, work, eating, drinking, sleeping, exercise etc All with the right intention that we are doing it only for the pleasure of Allah. If we worship Allah as much as we can then Allah will help us in all other aspects of our lives including at school, college, university, work and also getting work and with whatever we need in regards to worldly matters. With the right intention then all of our good deeds can be multiplied in reward but any good deed we do for the pleasure of others or to show off then those deeds will be replaced with major sin and we will be punished for it unless we change our ways and repent sincerely making sure we do ALL good deeds for the pleasure of Allah ONLY! So we should always check our intentions before doing any act!26. Overcoming laziness and procrastination!Shaythaan will always try his best to slow down our progress that is why we must change our mindset and attitude and constantly remind ourselves of our purpose in life and that we can be overcome by death at ANY second! Shaythaan can only whisper but we have the power over our body’s and lives so let us take our body towards goodness and away from sin and evil! Feeling this lazy cannot be good for your worship as it would make you lazy in your ship to. Procrastination and laziness are two of Shaytaan’s strongest strategies to stop us from performing good deeds. It is necessary for the wise person to take matters into his/her own hand and harness his/her energy in a positive way everyday. The person who breaks the back of Shaytaan in the start of the day will not just pass his time day dreaming and in mindless pursuits, he will make sure that every second of his time is spent fruitfully. In winter, Fajr Salaah is much later. So let us break the back of Shaytaan and kick-start our day with Salaat!Shaytaan causes people to forget the truth and the Commands of Allah. ‘Shaytaan has overtaken them. So he has made them forget the remembrance of Allah. They are the party of Shaytaan…’ [Surah al-Mujaddilah (58): 19] But as soon as we remember, we should strive to leave that which distracted us from the remembrance of Allah and His Commands as the Qur’an commands us, ‘If Shaytaan causes you to forget, then do not sit after the remembrance in the company of the wrong-doers.’ [Surah al-An’aam (6): 68]The one who wants to do some good deed should carry out his action with determination and resolve. Resolve means not wasting time and not delaying things. He should forget about the idea of having plenty of time because the one who has been warned (of the punishment of Allah) should not be assured. What you miss, you cannot make up for it. The reason for every shortcoming or inclination of evil is the belief that there is plenty of time and a lot of hope, because man keeps thinking of giving up evil and turning towards good, but delays. No doubt, whoever thinks that he has the whole day ahead of him will take his time, and whoever has the hope that he will still be there in the morning will do very little during the night, but the one who thinks of death as imminent will strive harder. You need to discipline yourself otherwise you will waste huge amounts of time which you will never get back and who knows when death will come for life is so uncertain and we need to prepare before preparations are made for our funerals! The Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) used to make a du’a:اللّهُمَّ إنِّي أعُوذُبِكَ مِن العَجزِ وَ الكَسلٍTransliteration: Allahumma inniy a’oothubika min al-ajzi wal-kasliTranslation: O Allah, I seek refuge in you from incapability and laziness.27. Make good use of your youth before it’s over!Make the best use of your youth until it is over because you will never be able to get it back. The youth is the best time for worship and getting closer to Allah so let us make the best of this time that we have and not waste it otherwise we will regret it FOREVER! We will also be asked by Allah on the day of judgement how we spent our youth. There is no guarantee that we will make it another day so we should make the best of now and the present for tomorrow may never come! Narrated by Ibn Abbas: Allah's Apostle said, "Take advantage of five matters before five other matters: your youth before you become old; and your health before you fall sick; and your richness before you become poor; and your free time before you become busy; and your life before your death."[Musnad Imam Ahmad]28. Self evaluation on a daily basisSelf-evaluation means to assess where you are in life, set goals for the future, and think of what you can do to get there. The process of self-evaluation makes one pro-active in directing one's life in order to achieve the goals one sets for themselves. Unless we take the initiative our lives will be shaped by circumstances. This is a brilliant tool for us to self evaluate ourselves just like people keep logs or diaries to remind them of things so that we can evaluate and improve ourselves on a daily basis. This "Daily Ibadah(worship) check" chart is perfect for you to evaluate worship on a daily basis so as to make improvements from there. You can download it and make print outs. Each chart represents one week: My Daily Ibadah(worship) checkMy Daily Ibadah (worship) check!Implement this new routine into our lives NOW for tomorrow may never come!So let us put all of this into our daily routine so that everyday can be a rewarding day for us. Let us spend our youth pleasing Allah and being close to him and not waste our youth for we will never get it back and if we waste it then surely we will regret it FOREVER and by then it would have been too late! These two names will be discussed together as they are very similar in meaning and come from the same root word,رحم which means “softness”. Translation: الرَّحْمَنُ = “The Lovingly Beneficent“, “Most kind” and “Most Gracious” الرَّحِيمُ = “The Most Merciful” and “The Most Compassionate.” What is the Difference between them? Scholars have mentioned a few differences of which the following three are well known and the most accepted among them. 1.رَحْمَن is a trait of Allah ta’ala which is in His Dhaat. It is innate in Him and therefore it is in Allah ta’ala’s essence to be Rahmaan while رَحِيم is a trait which needs to be manifested upon an object to be apparent. Therefore رَحْمَن is a trait which is innate in Allah ta’ala whether Makhlooq is there or not while رَحِيم is a trait which needs Makhlooq to be manifested upon. 2.رَحْمَن is when He is asked, He gives i.e. that being Who is giving and رَحِيم is when he is not asked He gets angry. 3.رَحْمَن is Allah ta’ala’s general and expansive mercy that encompasses and includes everybody whether deserving or not, Believer or disbeliever i.e. when rain falls, it is not discriminatory. It benefits everyone and we see this in the world. Everyone eats, drinks, lives etc. whether they do good or evil so Allah ta’ala is giving them through His being رَحْمَن . رَحِيم is “Khaas” – Allah ta’ala’s more exclusive/selective mercy for the Believers and doers of good and some Scholars say it is exclusive for Maghfirat of the Believers in this world and to enter Jannah in the Aakhirah. Therefore رَحْمَن is general and for this world and رَحِيم is exclusive and for the Aakhirah. رَحْمَن is that name which is very close to Allah ta’ala’s Dhaat so humans cannot share in it i.e. a person can be Raheem (merciful) or Kareem (generous) however it cannot be said that he is Rahmaan. It is exclusive for Allah ta’ala and it is also similar to Allah ta’ala’s Dhaati name in terms of not being made dual or plural and there being no feminine form of it unlike Raheemah and Kareemah. It is also the most know attribute of Allah ta’ala and is used by Allah ta’ala to describe Himself. The Tasmiyah Allah ta’ala has used both these names in the Tasmiyah بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم In the Qur’an رَحْمَن is mentioned 57 times رَحِيم is mentioned 114 times (Outside of the Tasmiyah) وَإِلَٰهُكُمْ إِلَٰهٌ وَاحِدٌ ۖ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الرَّحْمَٰنُ الرَّحِيمُ Your God is One God; there is no God save Him, the Beneficent, the Merciful. [Baqarah 163] In this verse Allah ta’ala describes Himself. الرَّحْمَٰنُ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ اسْتَوَى The Beneficent One, Who is established on the Throne [Surha Taha 5] Allah ta’ala often substitutes His Dhaati name with رَحْمَن which shows that رَحْمَن is very close to the name of Allah ta’ala and this is a Sifat that He, among all the Sifaat, wants to be known as. In this verse Allah ta’ala says He is “Established on the Arsh” and according to the Qur’anic verses and Hadith, the Scholars say the Arsh surrounds (envelopes) all of creation and Allah ta’ala has situated Himself on it. Allah ta’ala cannot be given a locality but it is His Rahmah which is encompassing /enveloping the entire universe. In another verse Allah ta’ala says; وَرَحْمَتِي وَسِعَتْ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ My mercy encompasses all things [Suarh Al-A’raaf: 156] Therefore it shows that literally Allah ta’ala has established His Rahmah on the Arsh and figuratively His Rahmah is above and beyond everything. So this trait is probably the most dominant, strongest and closest to Allah ta’ala. It is the trait He wants to be known as and the trait He wants to be invoked by the most i.e. we begin with the name of Allah ta’ala and these two names in the Tasmiyah when we recite the Qur’an or when doing anything. Description of His Rahmah and Who is Deserving of it Allah ta’ala has made His mercy mandatory/incumbent upon Himself as mentioned in the Qur’an, Ask them: “To whom belongs all that is in the heavens and in the earth?” If they don't respond, tell them: “To Allah!” He has decreed mercy for Himself, that is why He does not punish you for your misdeeds right away. He will certainly gather you all together on the Day of Resurrection; there is no doubt about it. Yet those who have lost their souls will not believe [Surah Al-An’aam:12] Knowing that Allah ta’ala is merciful no matter how bad people seem, gives a sense of hope and peace. It is mentioned in the Qur’an and the Hadith that becoming hopeless of Allah ta’ala’s mercy is a type of Kufr. However in the next part of the verse Allah ta’ala says He will definitely gather people on the Day of Judgement so though He is Most Merciful, His punishment is also there. He gives people time and opportunities to make Tawbah and change but there will come a day when it will be cut off and people will be gathered, judged and punished or rewarded according to their deeds. Therefore have hope but also know that you will be accountable for your deeds and there is this balance in our Deen unlike other religions like Christianity where emphasis is put of God’s mercy with the belief that He will not punish. In our Deen there is mercy of Allah ta’ala and it is extreme and far reaching and a beautiful trait however at the same time there is an ending to the time given to make Tawbah. Rahmah comes on Whom? In verse 54 of the same Surah, Allah ta’ala says, Whe those who believe in Our revelations come to you, say: “Peace be upon you. Your Rabb has decreed mercy upon Himself. If anyone among you commits evil because of ignorance and thereafter repents and mends his ways; you will find Allah Forgiving, Merciful.” [Surah Al-An’aam: 54] This verse mentions three traits which we should have in our lives: · Imaan · Tawbah · Islaah The verse tells us how we can utilise this beautiful trait of Allah ta’ala and become more deserving of it. Firstly, believe in Allah ta’ala and then if a person does a bad deed out of ignorance and then does Tawbah and takes measures to change, then Allah ta’ala is غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ فَإِنْ كَذَّبُوكَ فَقُلْ رَبُّكُمْ ذُو رَحْمَةٍ وَاسِعَةٍ وَلَا يُرَدُّ بَأْسُهُ عَنِ الْقَوْمِ الْمُجْرِمِينَ So if they give the lie to thee (Muhammad), say: Your Lord is a Lord of all embracing mercy, and His wrath will never be withdrawn from guilty folk. [Surah Al-An’aam: 147] رَحْمَةٍ وَاسِعَةٍ is very open and exclusive mercy. The verse says that even though people deny Him, Allah ta’ala is extremely merciful. He will give them opportunities and time in this world. He will let them have a good life and not punish them even though they do evil and oppress others however as the next part of the verse says, there will be a day when His anger and punishment will not be repelled from these people. His Rahmah is such that He gives people chances again and again, but in this world. In a well-known verse in Surah Hijr Allah ta’ala tells the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam to inform His salves that He is الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ نَبِّئْ عِبَادِي أَنِّي أَنَا الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ Announce, (O Muhammad) unto My slaves that verily I am the Forgiving, the Merciful. [Surah Hijr: 49] And this is mentioned many times in the Qur’an i.e. that His mercy isوَاسِعَة however He punishes as well. وَأَنَّ عَذَابِي هُوَ الْعَذَابُ الْأَلِيمُ but at the same time My punishment is also the most painful punishment.[Surah Hijr: 50] In Hadith It is mentioned in Hadith, “Allah has one hundred mercies, out of which He has sent down only one for jinn, mankind, animals and insects, through which they love one another and have compassion for one another; and through it, wild animals care for their young. Allah has retained ninety-nine mercies to deal kindly with His slaves on the Day of Resurrection.” [Bukhari & Muslim] It is the one part of mercy that we see in the world where humans and animals are merciful and ninety-nine parts are kept for the Day of Judgement. In another Hadith it is narrated, لما خلق الله الخلق، كتب في كتاب، فهو عنده فوق العرش: إن رحمتي تغلب غضبي “When Allah created the creatures, He wrote in the Book, which is with Him over His Throne: ‘Verily, My Mercy prevailed over My Wrath’” [Bukhari & Muslim] تغلب means “More dominant” ‘Umar ibn Al Khattab (radiyallahu ‘anhu) has narrated, “Some captives were brought to Nabi sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam, among whom was a breast feeding woman. When she found a child among the captives, she took it and suckled it. Nabi sallallahu ‘alayhi wasalla) said to us, ‘Do you think this woman will cast her child into a fire?’ We said, ‘No, if she has the power not to.’ Then Nabi sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam said, ‘Allah is more merciful to His slaves than this woman is to her child” [Bukhari & Muslim] An important Question – Why does Allah ta’ala allow Suffering? An important question comes up here that Allah ta’ala is Arham – extremely Merciful. He is Arhamur Raahimeen – The Most Merciful of those who show mercy. His Rahmah is above and beyond everything and He has the power to remove any problem or difficulty. The question which Imam Ghazali (رحمه الله) and a lot of us have is, He still lets people go through pain, suffering, tragedy, hardship etc. and for many the suffering is extreme. This causes a lot of people, Muslims and non-Muslims who have sensitive hearts and are thinking people that why does Allah ta’ala allow suffering? Imam Ghazali (رحمه الله) has answered this question in depth. Something bad may contain something good however we do not see it or understand it because our concept is different on what it means to be merciful. Sometimes we have to amputate a limb to save the body which is being merciful although the person may not see it. Imam Ghazali (رحمه الله) gives an example of a child who, due to some sickness, has to have a limb amputated. The mother refuses thinking her child will lose a limb and she is being merciful in her own way. The father however understands that without the amputation the child will lose his life. Imam Ghazali (رحمه الله) explains that a person who is ignorant thinks the mother is being compassionate but an intelligent person will see the whole picture and understand that the father is being more compassionate and more loving because he knows that to save the child the limb has to be amputated. Through this analogy Imam Ghazali (رحمه الله) shows that sometimes Allah ta’ala puts us in difficulty and even extreme difficulty to save us from something greater and this gives solace when we see suffering i.e. in Yemen, Syria and other places where we cannot do much and it causes heartache. For our own Imaan and sanity we should know that Allah ta’ala is Merciful and He knows exactly what they are experiencing unlike us who only know what we read on the media. Yet He is allowing it to happen therefore what they are going through in the Dunya must prevent them from any difficulty in the Aakhirah and therefore the difficulty of this Dunya is not against the mercy of Allah ta’ala but is a part of His mercy. This is something for us to remember when we are going through any difficulty even though it may extreme. We know that Allah ta’ala is Raheem and He is protecting us and alleviating pain and difficulty of the Aakhirah and this is one of the most beautiful things for the people of Imaan. Sometimes in difficult situations we make Du’a and when the difficulty is not removed we lose hope however it is mentioned in Hadith that Du’a is accepted in one of three ways; · Allah ta’ala will give what is asked for · He will not give what is asked for but some evil which was meant to happen is diverted away from the person and since we do not know it was diverted (as the evil does not happen) we think our Du’a is not accepted however the Du’a prevented it from happening. Du’a can change destiny. · Neither of the above happens however in compensation Allah ta’ala will give so much in the Aakhirah that the person will wish none of his Du’a made in the world were accepted. Therefore the Dua not being accepted the way we want, is also His mercy and it is mercy we cannot see. Counsel What are the lessons for us to Learn? لَا يَرْحَمُ اللَّهُ مَنْ لَا يَرْحَمُ النَّاسَ “Allah will not be merciful to those who are not merciful to people” [Bukhari & Muslim] النَّاسَ – all human beings. Therefore showing mercy to human beings is a way to attain Allah ta’ala’s mercy for ourselves. In another Hadith it is mentioned; ارْحَمُوا مَنْ فِي الْأَرْضِ يَرْحَمْكُمْ مَنْ فِي السَّمَاءِ “Be merciful to those on the earth and the One in the heavens will have mercy upon you.” [Tirmidhi] Therefore show mercy to people be they Muslims or non-Muslims, good or bad, which unfortunately is something we are very short of. We do not even show mercy to our own children and families. Show mercy through your words and actions, by giving Naseehah, dealing gently with people, not looking down on anyone and looking with the eye of mercy at disobedient people (Hate the sin, not the sinner). Try to meet the needs of people in poverty or in need of education etc. and if you cannot, then show you care and make Du’a for them and that is also being merciful. Mercy should also be shown to all other living things. The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam said, إن الله كتب الإحـسـان عـلى كــل شيء “Indeed, Allah prescribed ihsaan in all things.” There is mention in Hadith of a woman who was forgiven through her kindness to a dog; “A prostitute had once been forgiven. She passed by a dog panting near a well. Thirst had nearly killed him, so she took off her sock, tied it to her veil, and drew up some water. Allah forgave her for that.” [Bukhari & Muslim] Therefore learn these names of Allah ta’ala and make intention that I want to be more merciful to all of creation. Insha-allah Silah Rahmi A separate point which is attached to the concept of mercy is صله رحمى - joining ties of kinship which is mentioned in the Qur’an. وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ الَّذِي تَسَاءَلُونَ بِهِ وَالْأَرْحَامَ “… and fear Allāh through whom you demand your mutual (rights), and (do not cut) family ties. [Surah Nisaa’:1] Interestingly the word Rahmah is used for family ties and also used for the womb of a woman. It is mentioned in a Hadith; الرَّحِمُ مُعَلَّقَةٌ بِالْعَرْشِ تَقُولُ مَنْ وَصَلَنِي وَصَلَهُ اللهُ، وَمَنْ قَطَعَنِي قَطَعَهُ اللهُ “The bond of relationship is suspending from the Throne, and says: ‘He who keeps good relations with me, Allah will keep connection with him, but whosoever severs relations with me, Allah will sever connection with him“. [Muslim] This shows that Rahmah is maintaining family ties and to invite the Rahmah of Allah ta’ala, we should maintain family ties. Another Hadith mentions; “Allah’s mercy will not descend on people among whom there is one who severs ties of kinship.” [Baihaqi, Shuab Al-Iman] Therefore one of the ways to invite the mercy of Allah ta’ala is maintaining family ties and this is important for us as for a lot of us family ties are there however we do not see the worth in it (appreciate it) and we do not understand the definition. What does it mean to maintain family ties? With people we have issues with or with whom we do not get along, maintaining family ties can be at a minimum level which is to say and reply to Salaam, share in happy occasions, give condolences on sad occasions and visit when sick. It does not matter whether our family are Believers on non-believers. We should have a merciful attitude to all our family. If the family are non-believers and they invite you to a wedding or other occasions where you know there will be Haraam activities then you do not have to attend however wish them well. Sometimes people are good and merciful to others but neglect the family and do not show them even a quarter of the mercy they show others. Du’a to invoke the mercy of Allah ta’ala Recite in illness or in other difficulty: يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّوْمُ بِرَحْمَتِكَ أَسْتَغِيْث On You Who is Ever-living and Sustains and Protects everything, I seek assistance through the means of your mercy [At-Tirmidhi] And also: ياَ أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ Oh the Most Merciful of those who show mercy *~~*~~*

Doubts in Purity & Key Principles in Fiqh (Jurispridence)
Bint e Aisha replied to ummtaalib's topic in OCD / Wasaawis
Walaikumus Salam The floor will be considered pure unless you've seen some impurity and you are certain that it is impure. There is a maxim in jurisprudence: اليقين لا يزول بالشك "Certainty is not dispelled by doubt." Also a similar question was asked in this thread to which Mufti Abuhajira answered: Allah ta'ala knows best. -

Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-'As: When we were around the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), he mentioned the period of commotion (fitnah) saying: When you see the people that their covenants have been impaired, (the fulfilling of) the guarantees becomes rare, and they become thus (interwining his fingers). I then got up and said: What should I do at that time, may Allah make me ransom for you? He replied: Keep to your house, control your tongue, accept what you approve, abandon what you disapprove, attend to your own affairs, and leave alone the affairs of the generality. -
Protecting Oneself in the Time of Fitnah
Bint e Aisha replied to ummtaalib's topic in General Islamic Articles
Adopting good company is vital in protecting oneself from fitna. Allah says in Surah Kahf: وَاصْبِرْ نَفْسَكَ مَعَ الَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ رَبَّهُم بِالْغَدَاةِ وَالْعَشِيِّ يُرِيدُونَ وَجْهَهُ ۖ وَلَا تَعْدُ عَيْنَاكَ عَنْهُمْ تُرِيدُ زِينَةَ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا ۖ وَلَا تُطِعْ مَنْ أَغْفَلْنَا قَلْبَهُ عَن ذِكْرِنَا وَاتَّبَعَ هَوَاهُ وَكَانَ أَمْرُهُ فُرُطًا "And keep yourself patient [by being] with those who call upon their Lord in the morning and the evening, seeking His countenance. And let not your eyes pass beyond them, desiring adornments of the worldly life, and do not obey one whose heart We have made heedless of Our remembrance and who follows his desire and whose affair is ever [in] neglect." -

Anti-Islam Cartoon competition in Netherlands-

Those who get waswasa often should also recite the following as much as possible: أعوذُ باِللهِ مِنَ الشَّيطَانِ الرَّجِيم “I seek refuge in Allah from the rejected devil.” لاحول ولا قوة إلا بالله “There is no power and no strength except with Allah” اَللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ وَسَاوِسَ قَلْبِىْ خَشْيَتَكَ وَ ذِكْرَكَ وَ اجْعَلْ هِمَّتِىْ وَ هَوَايَ فِيْمَا تُحِبُّ وَ تَرْضَى “O Allah! Eid Mubarak! May Allah accept our Qurbani

Q: Can llamas be used for udhiyya sacrifice? Will the same rules apply as they do for camels (7 parts per animal/ 5 yr old healthy adult)? A: If it is not a camel then it is not permissible.

Q: Is it permissable to make Qurbani of Llama? It is an animal of your country so what is your practise in this matter? A: Maulana, I hope that you are well. Outside of Eidul-Adha we have sacrificed Llama, its meat is delicious and it’s low incholesterol. But in our country, we have researched with the farmers about its origin and they have stated that it is a hybrid breed and does not specifically resemble other species (although it may originate from them). So it is permissible to eat. But we don’t make Qurbani (Udhiya) of it because it is not mentioned in clear Nas of Hadeeth, we believe that just like deer (which is permissible to eat) llama is also not suitable for Qurbani. Our second reasoning is that in Shariah forQurbani specific species, ages or shares are mentioned but llama is not mentioned. There are plenty of animals which are permissible for consumption but Qurbani is specific. These animals are common in Peru,Bolivia and Chile and there are other species like this as well such as Alpaca. The injunction for Llama and Alpaca is the same for Qurbani. Someone once did a Qurbani for it and I had a discussion with him on the topic (of Qurbani), llama is neither as tall as Camel nor fully resembles a camel so the analogy that it is camel cannot apply to it. 4 things to do on the Blessed 10 Days of Dhul HijjahDhul Hijjah is the sacred month of Hajj. So blessed are the first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah that according to a large group of commentators of the Qur’an, Allah swears by these 10 days in Surah Fajr:Allah the Most High & Exalted says: By the Dawn; By the ten Nights; (89:1-2)This oath substantiates the greatness and sacredness of these ten nights in the eyes of Allah. This is an extra ordinary oath; it is very reliable and significant and the wise men can understand that by this oath, Allah too attaches great importance and value to the ten nights of Dhul Hijjah. The Prophet (Sallahu Alaihi Wassalam) has said regarding these Blessed days: "There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days." The people asked , "Not even Jihad for the sake of Allah?" He said, "Not even Jihad for the sake of Allah, except in the case of a man who went out, giving himself and his wealth up for the cause (of Allah), and came back with nothing." (Reported by Al-Bukhari)It is clear then that these 10 days possess tremendous blessings and excellence. Therefore we should spend these 10 blessed days & nights in intensive worship & virtuous acts. Therefore we cannot possibly afford to miss out on such immense rewards otherwise we will definitely be in utter regret in the Hereafter! The following are recommended acts to do during the blessed 10 days and Nights of Dhul Hijjah:1. Fasting the 9 days of Dhul Hijjah:It is recommended to fast on the first nine days of Dhu’l Hijjah, especially the 9th which is the blessed day of Arafah. Allah’s Messenger (Salallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) encouraged us to do righteous deeds in the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah; and indeed fasting is one of the best of deeds. Almighty Allah says, “All the deeds of the son of Adam are for him, except fasting, which is for Me and I shall reward for it.”’ (Al-Bukhari) Note: The 10th of Dhul Hijjah is the Day of Eid ul Adha and is prohibitively disliked and sinful to fast on this day.Forgiveness for 2 years of sins (Minor sins) for fasting on the day of Arafah:Abu Qatada (Ra) related that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “Fasting the Day of `Arafah (f: 9th of Dhu’l Hijjah) expiates for two years, one prior and one forthcoming. And fasting the Day of `Ashura (f: 10th of Muharram) expiates for the past year.” [Muslim, Abu Dawud, Nasa’i, and Ibn Majah]Therefore we should try our utmost to fast all the blessed 9 days of Dhul Hijjah particularly the 9th oh Dhul Hijjah which is the day of Arafah. If not then we should at least fast as many as we can possibly can as we may not get this opportunity again next year as life is uncertain and we should never procrastinate on doing good actions. Tip 1: Eat light & hydrate well: If you will be staying up until Fajr, then the more you eat, the harder it will be for you to stay up and the less productive you will be! Keep some water with you at all times. This will help you stay up, feel energised and refreshed and have a clearer mind.2. Reciting Tasbeeh, Tahmeed, Tahleel & Takbeer abundantly:It is Sunnah to recite takbeer (Allahu-akbar), tahmeed (Alhamdulillah), tahleel (Laa ilaaha ill-Allah), and tasbeeh (SubhanAllah) during the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah. These words should be recited abundantly in the masjids, homes, streets and in every place where it is permissible to remember & glorify Allah. ‘That they may witness things that are of benefit to them (reward of Hajj in the Hereafter and also some worldly gain from trade), and mention the Name of Allah on appointed days, over the beast of cattle that He has provided for them (for sacrifice).(22:28) Reciting the Takbeeraat-e-Tashreeq from the 9th to the 13th of Dhul Hijjah:Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Laa ilaaha illallahu Wallahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Wa lillahil Hamd. Translation: "Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest. There is no deity besides Allah and Allah is the greatest. Allah is the greatest and all praises are for Allah only." It is Waajib (compulsory) for men to recite the above after every Fardh Salaat from Fajr of the 9th of Dhul Hijjah until Asr of the 13th of Dhul Hijjah audibly. Women should recite it silently.Tip 2: Remember & Glorify Allah no matter what you are doing: This is particularly easy as one can remember Allah anywhere and at anytime whether it is during work or any daily activity. 3. Doing the Qurbani (Sacred sacrifice of a livestock Animal):The Qurbani is the sacrifice of a livestock animal during Eid ul-Adha. It is the Sunnah of Prophet Ibrahim (As). It is a means of getting closer to Allah. It is obligatory upon every sane adult who is not a traveller and can afford it (Wealth equal to or more than nisab). It is performed on the days of sacrifice which is the 10th, 11th or 12th of Dhul Hijjah. One may sacrifice a thousand animals on days other than these, but it will never be regarded or considered a Qurbani. Therefore the Qurbani is a sacred act which can only be done during the 3 days of Dhul Hijjah as specified. Regarding the Qurbani, Allah says in the Qur'an:"It is not their meat, nor their blood, that reaches Allah, It is their piety that reaches Allah" (22:37) The Prophet (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) says regarding the Qurbani: “There is nothing dearer to Allah during the days of Qurbaani than the sacrificing of animals. The sacrificed animal shall come on the Day of Judgement with its horn, hair, and hooves (to be weighed). The sacrifice is accepted by Allah before the blood reaches the ground. Therefore sacrifice with an open and happy heart.” (Tirmidhi V1 pp275, Ibne Maajah V1 pp226)Tip 3: Doing Qurbani is very easy nowadays: Doing Qurbani during the days of sacrifice is a means of getting closer to Allah and gaining immense rewards. Nowadays it is much easier for us to fulfil this sacred act by the mere click of a button over the internet where we can buy an animal to be sacrificed on the various established Muslim charity websites.4. Doing more good deeds than usual:The Prophet (Sallahu Alaihi Wassalam) said: "There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days (Dhul Hijjah)."(Bukhari)Therefore we should increase the amount of good deeds we do in order to take advantage of this blessed time where good deeds are increased significantly. Tip 4: Complete all tasks beforehand & do not waste this precious time: Make arrangements to clear as many of your pending tasks as possible or make a plan for tackling them later. This way, one is free to worship during the 10 days and nights without being distracted by worldly tasks. We must make a firm intention that during these blessed 10 days, we will not take part in idle talk, watch TV, play computer games or spend time on the social media. There are 355 days in the year for all that – if you really cannot resist. This is just 10 days! There will be indeed an utter loss and regret for those of us who waste these blessed 10 days. The following 7 deeds are amongst the best actions we can do during these blessed 10 days:1. Reciting the Qur’an abundantly:Whoever reads a letter from the Book of Allah, he will have a reward. And that reward will be multiplied by ten. I am not saying that “Alif, Laam, Meem” is a letter, rather I am saying that “Alif” is a letter, “laam” is a letter and “meem” is a letter.” So increase your recitation of the Qur’an to gain these merits, and to gain the following merit as well. (At-Tirmidhi)So if one letter of the Qur'an is equivalent to ten good deeds then imagine how much reward there is for reading each letter during these blessed 10 days which are said to be the best days of the year! Subhanallah!Abdullah Ibn ‘Abbas & Anas Ibn Malik (RA) reported that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, ‘Whoever recited Surah Zilzilah (99) would get the reward of reciting half the Qur’an. Whoever recited Surah al Kaafirun (109) would get a reward as if reading a quarter of the Qur’an. Whoever recited Surah al Ikhlas (112) would get a reward as if reading one third of the Qur’an’. (At-Tirmidhi 2818/A)Therefore let us recite as much of the Qur’an as we can during these 10 days and nights and aim to finish at least one Qur'an if we can. After that we should continue reciting the Qur'an throughout the rest of the year, for there is no better worship of Allah than to recite the Qur'an!Note: It is also very relevant to read the story of Ibrahim (As) which will give one a deeper understanding of the rituals of Hajj & the Qurbani.2. Showing exemplary character: The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “Nothing will be heavier on the Day of Resurrection in the Scale of the believer than good manners. Allah hates one who utters foul or coarse language.” [At- Tirmidhi]. So we must aim to be the best in character during these blessed days and nights and continue to do so for the rest of the year. We must not argue, swear, backbite, slander or gossip.3. Giving much to charity:As the rewards of doing good deeds during these days are increased significantly then we should also give as much as we can in charity. Allah promised forgiveness of our sins if we give in charity and give to the poor and needy. He honoured our charity and described it as a “ beautiful loan to Allah “ to emphasise that we are doing something good that He loves, and that He himself will pay our loan back to us doubled: "If ye loan to Allah a beautiful loan, He will double it to your (credit), and He will grant you Forgiveness: for Allah is Most Ready to appreciate (service), Most Forbearing." At-Taghabun 64:174. Respecting & honouring our parents:Islam teaches us that of the most beloved deeds to Allah, having respect for one's parents is second only to that of prayer and is greater than that of fighting in His cause. It is narrated on the authority of Abdullah bin Mas'ood (Ra), who observed: "I asked Allah's Messenger (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) which deed was the best." He (the Holy Prophet) replied: 'The Prayer at its appointed hour.' I (again) asked: "Then what?" He (the Holy Prophet) replied: 'Kindness to the parents.' I (again) asked: "Then what?" He replied: 'Earnest struggle (Jihad) in the cause of Allah.' I refrained from asking any more questions for fear of annoying him. (Sahih Muslim: 120)5. Doing many Nawafil (Superogatory) Prayers: Rabi'ah ibn Malik al-Aslami reported that the Prophet (Sallallahu alehi wasallam) said:"Ask (anything)." Rabi'ah said: "I ask of you to be your companion in paradise." The Prophet said: "Or anything else?" Rabi'ah said: "That is it." The Prophet sallallahu alehi wasallam said to him:"Then help me by making many prostrations (i.e., supererogatory prayers)." (Muslim)The following are Sunnah & Nawafil prayers to pray during the 10 days of Dhul Hijjah:- Pray 12 Raka'ahs of Sunnah daily: - 2 Sunnah of Fajr, 4 Sunnah & 2 Sunnah of Dhuhr & 2 Sunnah of MaghribUmm Habibah Ramilah bint Abu Sufyan (RA) narrated she heard the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) saying: “A house will be built in Paradise for every Muslim who offers twelve units of Prayers other than the obligatory ones in day & night, to seek pleasure of Allah.” (Muslim)- Salaatul Duhaa: - (Can be prayed from 20 minutes after sunrise up until 20 minutes before Dhuhr begins) So we should remain seated after Fajr prayer & recite the Qur'an or do Dhikr up until 20 minutes after Sunrise & pray Salaatul Duhaa. If not then we can pray it anytime before midday.'Salat al-Dhuhaa consists of 2 - 12 Rakaats & it is preferable to perform 8 Rakaats.' (Raddul Mukhtaar vol.1 pg.505)The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) is reported to have said: Whoever prayed twelve rakaats (before midday), then Allah will, as a reward, prepare a palace of gold for him in Paradise. (Mishkat, Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah)- 4 Sunnah, 2 Sunnah & 2 Nawafil of Dhuhr:Umm Habibah (RA) narrated that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “Whoever sticks to the habit of offering four rak`ahs before Noon Prayer & four rak`ahs after it, Allah will shield him against the Hell-Fire.” (Abu Dawud & At-Tirmidhi) - 4 Raka'ahs Sunnah of Asr:The Prophet (Sallallaahu 'Alaihi wa sallam) said:"May Allaah have Mercy on the one who offers four (Raka'ahs) before 'Asr prayer."(Abu Dawud)- Two Raka'ahs Sunnah after entering Masjid:Abu Qatadah (RA) narrated the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) as saying: “If any one of you enters a mosque, he should pray two rak`ahs before sitting.” (Al-Bukhari & Muslim) - Tahiyyatul Wudu: - 2 Raka'ahs Sunnah after doing Wudu (Ablution)Abu Hurayrah (RA) reported the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) saying to Bilal (RA): “Tell me about the best of your deeds (i.e. one which you deem the most rewarding) since your embracing Islam because I heard your footsteps in front of me in Paradise.” Bilal (RA) replied: “I do not consider any act of mine more rewarding than that whenever I make ablution at any time of night or day, I perform Prayer for as much as was destined for me to do.” (Al-Bukhari & Muslim)”- Tahajjud prayer: (The Night Vigil prayer) - Can be prayed straight after Isha up until the break of DawnImam Abu Sa'id al-Khadimi said, "There is scholarly consensus (ijma`) that among the best of virtuous acts is the night vigil prayer." [al-Bariqa al-Mahmudiyya Sharh al-Tariqa al-Muhammadiyya]The Most virtuous Nawafil (Voluntary) prayer is the Tahajjud prayer as it enables one to get closer to Allah (glorified and exalted be He). It can be prayed after Isha’ until just before Fajr begins. The best recitation of the Qur’an is done during Tahajjud prayer. You should recite as much of the Qur’an as you have memorised. In the long prostrations, beg Allah (glorified and exalted be He) for forgiveness and mercy and surely He will never turn away his slaves who beg of him during this prayer.Note: During the first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah we should aim to pray Tahajjud every night. If not then we should pray it in as many nights as we possibly can. When fasting during the first 9 days of Dhul Hijjah one should awaken a little earlier for Suhur, make Wudu & pray between 2-12 Raka'ahs of Tahajjud. The last third portion of the night is the most blessed part of the night in which Dua's are more readily accepted during this time. So by praying Tahajjud it gives us the best opportunity to get closer to Allah & to make sincere Dua, repenting for our sins past & present & to beg, cry & ask of Allah for whatever we want. 6. Increase in glorification & remembrance of Allah:As his creations we should all remember & glorify our creator as much as we possibly can, but even more so during these blessed days:The following are some easy and very beneficial Dhikr and glorification we can do throughout these Blessed Days and Nights:- Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Laa ilaaha illallahu Wallahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Wa lillahil Hamd- Subhanallah- Alhamdulillah- Allahu Akbar- Laa ilaha ilallah- LA HAWLA WA LA QUWWATA ILLA BILLAH- Asthaghfirullah- SUB-HAN'ALLAH HIL AZEEM WA BI-HAM'DIHI, - Subhāna-llāhi, wa-l-hamdu li-llāhi, wa lā ilāha illā-llāhu, wa-llāhu akbar. Wa lā hawla wa lā quwwata illā bi-llāhi-l-aliyyi-l-azīm- Lā ilāha illā-llāhu waḥdahu lā sharīka lahu lahu-l-mulku wa lahu-l-ḥamdu yuhyi wa yumītu wa huwa ḥayyu-llā yamūtu abadan abada, ḏū-l-jalāli wa-l-ikrām, biyadihi-l-khayr, wa huwa alā kulli Shay-in qadīrOr the shortened version:- Laa ilaaha illal-laahu wahdahu laa shareeka lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu wa huwa ‘alaa kulli shay-in qadeerOne can also recite the durood that one recites towards the end of one's Salaah or the shortest durood: Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallim7. Making much Dua:Almighty Allah says in the Qur'an:"When my servants ask you concerning me, (tell them) I am indeed close (to them). I listen to the prayer of every suppliant when he calls on me." [2:186] The place of duaa is so high to Allah, that the Prophet(Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallim) had said: "Nothing is more honourable to Allah the Most High than du`a." [Sahih al-Jami` no.5268]. Almighty Allah also said: "The most excellent worship is Du'a." [Sahih Al-Jami` no. 1133]We should busy ourselves in Dua during these 10 blessed days and nights particularly on the night and day of Arafat which is the 9th of Dhul Hijjah. Duas are also readily accepted during fasting, especially just before Suhur ends and just before breaking the fast.Tip 5. Making life changes: We should make the necessary changes to improve ourselves as Muslims and what better time to make such changes than during these blessed 10 days where we can change our lives forever. We must internalise these changes and make a firm commitment to Allah (glorified and exalted be He), and maybe that he will wipe off our sins until we become newborn babies, In sha Allah. Finally:Therefore let us make the best of these blessed days and make the necessary changes so that we may live a life devoted to Allah. We should aim to rectify our condition and live for the Hereafter rather than living for this world which can end at any second for any one of us. Allah tells us In the Qur'an to enter fully into our deen (Way of life) and not partly:O believers enter into Islam completely and do not follow the footsteps of Shaitan, surely he is your clear-cut enemy.... (Surah Al-Baqara, Ayah 208-210)So then will we not make Islam a FULL part of our lives? This is our best opportunity and if we don't grab it now and death comes to us then surely we will regret it for ETERNITY! Surely there is no logic in putting all of our efforts into a short, temporary life which can end at any second and neglect that which will last forever. Knowing this then why do we put everything into this life and neglect the Hereafter? Time is passing us by and we are blinded by the deception of this life. Time is not on our side. This life is very short indeed. It is like a quick passing phase. It is a short stopover in our journey to the eternal Afterlife. This short life is our only one opportunity to build our Hereafter. In the Hereafter we will want to be taken back to this life in order to live it again so that we can worship Allah. But we will not be able to. So let us prepare for the Hereafter and our inevitable death before preperations are made for our funerals.May Allah enable us to make the best of these blessed days and Nights and make it a means of our success in this world and the Next. Durood Sadiqul Wa'd Courtesy: LoveDurood Consider the following 3 points and then read the durood after: 1 - The greatest worry of the Holy Prophet salallaho alayhi wa sallam was not Badr or Hunain or whether his family will eat or not but his greatest worry was whether he fulfilled the amanat what he was trusted with by Allah swt and delivered the message of Allah swt to the creation. And about this at the Farewell Hajj he asked all of the Sahaba ra and made Allah swt a witness over them. 2 - Among the etiquette adaab in Madinah Munawwarah at the time of ziyarat is to say (along with the salaam) that "I testify that you indeed conveyed the message and fulfilled your trust." - Our Ulama say that it comes in Hadith e Shareef that each durood recited is delivered to the Holy Prophet salallaho alayhi wa sallam word for word as it is recited along with mentioning the name of the reciter and their fathers name. I wanted a durood which would convey the message of fulfilling the trust and conveying the message of Allah swt and so a fikr was made and with the help of some ulama a durood was made with that wording and some seygas of other durood were added on as well. I title this durood Sadiqul Wa'd: I hope that you will read this durood. As you will read this durood each time it will be delivered immediately by the malaaikah in the service of the Holy Prophet salallaho alayhi wa sallam using your name and your fathers name saying "fulan the son/daughter of fulan" conveys this salaat wa salaam..." and then the durood is conveyed. So just ponder that each time you read this durood the Holy Prophet salallaho alayhi wa sallam receives a message from you in which you are saying he fulfilled his trust and conveyed the message (plus the other praises in the durood).
