Some people think that to live an Islamic life is "restrictive". Islam however, was revealed as a balanced way of living. Allah (The Most High) created all the humans with what is called 'A Fitrah' (a natural state/ desire).Islam recognises that within this Fitrah there are motivations that influence a man's role on earth e.g. a desire for good food and drink, to have a home, a desire for love and sex, to protect and be protected and to be successful and strong. Without some form of control and limit, all of these legitimate motives could prove very dangerous. So what constitutes the perfect control for the Fitrah? It must be a method that provides an organised yet practical demonstration of how to balance all these natural human desires. It cannot be something that goes against the Fitrah, by placing on it extra burdens. Likewise, it cannot be something that allows the human desires to run wild without any form of control. Islam is the perfect control for the Fitrah. It provides a divine method that elevates man above animals and the rest of creation. Humans lack perfect knowledge as well as perfect wisdom. No matter how hard we try, we will never attain the perfect way of life by our own thinking and interpretation. This is the reason why Allaah being the Most Wise, sent us the Qur'an and the Prophet Muhammad (SAW)[2] to show us this practical and organised way of life. Allaah, being Perfect, in His Wisdom and Knowledge, perfected a complete way of life for us. He has set His limitations and rules, all of which are beneficial to mankind, and therefore, do not need changing: "These are the limits (set) by Allaah, so do not approach them"(Surah al-Baqarah 2:1871) "These are the limits set by Allaah, so do not transgress them"(Surah al-Baqarah 2:229) This is why Islam does not allow celibacy, because it is against the Fitrah, i.e., the desire for sex. Celibacy goes beyond the limits required by humans, and is something that cannot be fulfilled because humans are designed to procreate. As humans we are not expected to fast every single day for the rest of our lives (for most 30 days of the year provides an up-hill struggle). It is also from ignorance to say that 'I shall not sleep during the night, but rather I shall pray!' [3] Humans have not been created by Allah to live life in such a manner. There is a balance which must be observed. The following incident describes the Islamic stance towards such behaviour, Anas reported that some of the Companions of Allaah's Messenger (SAW) used to say: "I will not marry women"; someone else said: "I will not eat meat"; and someone else said: "I will not lie down in bed". (On hearing this): The Prophet (SAW) praised Allaah, and glorified Him and said: "what has happened to these people that they say so and so, whereas I observe prayer and I sleep too. I observe fast and I break my fast; I marry women also. And he who turns away from my Sunnah (i.e., my example or lifestyle), he has no relation with me" [Narrated in Saheeh Muslimvol. 2. p703. no. 32361]. Islam on the other hand, does not allow the person to surrender themselves to lust and desire, as in contemporary 'civilisation'. Islam recognises the love a man has for women, children, gold, silver, and other possessions. But it provides a limit for the amount of this worldly pleasure which we require, and reminds us of the life in the hereafter. "Beautified for men is the love of things they desire: Women, Children, much of gold and silver (wealth), branded beautiful horses, cattle and well-tilled land. This is the pleasure of the present world's life, but Allaah has the excellent return ( Paradise )" (Surah Aali-Imraan 3:141) The inclinations and desires of the Fitrah are not to become the objective in life. Rather they are to be taken in a stabilised manner. The way to deal with them is real and Allaah (The Most High) has given us the detailed descriptions of a levelled approach. This levelled approach gives mankind the perfectly balanced pleasure in this worldly life. The method of maintaining a well-balanced life is not an endurance test to see who lasts the longest. Allah has revealed Islam, to show us how to attain this balance in a real manner. Life is not a torturous spiritual test, where you are ordered to Iive in mountains and trees. Fasting all year round is not obligatory. Marriage is permissible and you do not have to beat yourself senseless to purify your soul! Rather as Muslims, we must try to follow the Prophet and his balanced teachings of life and living. As Allah says in the Qur'an: "Indeed in the Messenger of Allah (saw), you have a good example to follow.." (Surah Al-Ahzab 33:21)

Hazrath Abdullah Ibn ‘Abbās (RA) narrates; I heard Muhammad ﷺ reciting these du’ās one night, after he had completed his Tahajjud salāt: 1. O Allāh! I ask You of Your Mercy by which You give guidance to my heart, by which You make my work easy, and removed my distressed condition by it, and manage my issues in my absence by it. And give exaltation and honor by Your Mercy; and clean my actions (from hypocrisy and infidelity) by Your Mercy; and put that thing in my heart, which is correct and suitable for me; and whatever I like, grant me by Your Mercy; and protect me from all evil by Your Mercy. 2. O Allāh! Give me that belief and faith which there may not be any infidelity and a Mercy enabling me to achieve the blessings of Your gifts in this world and the Hereafter. 3. O Allāh! I ask of You to give me a conviction that Your Decree is the very fulfillment of my aims, and an entertainment which is offered to martyrs, and a life of the fortunate, and Your help over enemies. 4. O Allāh! I place before You my needs, though my understanding is limited, and my actions are weak, hence I am badly in need of Your Mercy. O the Maker of affairs and Healer of the hearts! As You by Your power keep the oceans (running together) separate from each other (that the saltish remains separate from the sweet and sweet remains separate from saltish); so I request You to keep me away from the punishment of the Hell-Fire, and the lamentations of the one about to perish, and from the punishment of the grave. 5. O Allāh! I ask You of that goodness which is beyond my understanding and intention, and which I did not even ask. However, You promised this to anyone of Your creation, or any goodness which You want to give to any of Your slaves. I desire this and ask You for it by Your Mercy, O Sustainer of the universe! 6. O You of firm promises and Master of good deeds! I ask for Your peace on the Day of Judgement, and Paradise on the Day of Eternity, to be among Yours favorites and regular attendants of Your Court; frequently bowing and prostrating and fulfilling their promises. You are Most Kind and Most Loving, and no doubt You do what You will. 7. O Allāh! Make me one who is guided aright, and guides others aright. Do not misguide me, and do not make me misguide others. I may be in peace with Your friends and enemy of Your enemies. Those who love You, I should love them for that love of Yours, and those who are against You, I should have enmity with them due to their enmity with You. 8. O Allāh! It is for us to supplicate, and for You to accept. This is my effort and reliance is on You. 9. O Allāh! Put Nūr (light) in my heart, and make my grave illuminated; and grant me Nūr in front of me, Nūr at my back, Nūr on my right, Nūr on my left, Nūr above me, Nūr below me, (Your Nūr be around me), and Nūr in my ears, Nūr in my eyes, Nūr in every hair of mine, Nūr in my skin, Nūr in my flesh, Nūr in my blood, and Nūr in every bone of mine. O Allāh! Make my Nūr enormous, grant me Nūr, and make Nūr for me. 10. Unblemished is He Whose covering is Dignity itself and Whose World is Dignified. Unblemished is He Whose dress is Nobility and Honor. Unblemished is He; and none can be appropriately called unblemished besides Him. Unblemished is He Who is of great Excellence and full of Bounties. Unblemished is He Who is of great Dignity and Generosity. Unblemished is He Who is the Possessor of great Power and Respect. Tirmidhi

Hazrat Hakeemul Ummat Mujaddid e Millat Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanwi (RA) once mentioned in a lecture that a woman put extra salt in the food by mistake. Her husband thereupon decided this matter with Allah and said: “O Allah! She has made a mistake by making the food salty, so for Your sake I forgive this wife of mine who is your bondswoman. She has a connection with You, therefore I forgive her.” All this he thought in his heart and forgave his wife and did not tell her anything. After he had passed away, someone saw him in a dream and asked him how he fared? He replied: “Matters were very frightening, great sins of mine were presented, but Allah told me that He forgave me and I am free to go, as one day I forgave His bondswoman (my wife), for making the food too salty.” How would we like our son-in-law to treat our daughter if she makes a mistake? Would we not like that he should forgive her? When the son-in-law troubles our daughter, we run to buzrug’s for taweez and duas. Similarly, our wives are also someone else’s daughters. Must we not show mercy to them? We argue and fight so much with them that they cry inside and have no one to complain to in the in-law’s house. Their sighs and laments too will surely catch up with you one day! Source: Treatment of Anger by Hazrat Maulana Shah Hakeem Muhammad Akhtar Sab (Ra)

PURPOSE OF MAN By Shaykh Zulfiqar Ahmed d.b Created to Worship Man has been created to worship Allah When he becomes forgetful of this and becomes weak in his worship and connection with Allah he falls from his status and becomes lower than animals. An Awakening Moment. Hadrat Bahlol Dana rah was walking by a waterfront when he saw some children playing, and saw another child sitting by himself lost in thought. Hadrat Bahlol rah approached this child and asked him why he was not playing with the others. The child looked at Hadrat Bahlol rah and quoted a verse from the Holy Quran: "Does man think he will be left uncontrolled (without purpose)?" (75:36) Hadrat Bahlol rah was astonished to hear something so grave coming from what appeared to be a young child, and said upon reflection, “You seem to be very intelligent, give me some advice.” The child recited some poetic verses: "O traveler, your time is short. Make preparations before you come, and don't let them fall short." Hadrat Bahlol rah started crying and said, “You are yet so young. It would be more understandable if you were someone older who was reflecting on his past sins. What is the reason for this lamenting at such a young age?” The child looked at him and said, “I look at my mother lighting the fire for dinner. She uses small sticks to have the fire catch, and then puts in the larger sticks. I often think that Allah too has to light the Fire of Hell, and I fear that He might give the command to have the little children thrown in before the adults. Bahlol, when I think upon this I cry.” Man has been sent to this world for the worship and pleasure of Allah u.If man does not understand this then he has not understood anything. The Holy Quran says: "If you count the favors of Allah, never will you be able to number them" (14:34) Mankind is immersed in the blessings of Allah - the air that he breathes; the foods that he eats; the comforts that he enjoys. The reality should be that we praise Him to the degree that we enjoy His blessings However, man is such an ingrate that he enjoys Allah’s u blessings but remains in doubt and complaintregarding His Creator.Man forgets His purpose and is heedless to the fact that he has not been sent here to live forever. People have to realize that some day they have to depart this life for the next, and so they have to prepare. May Allah help us understanding the purpose of our life and keep us steadfast on the deen. Ameen

Taqleed Made Easy- For Beginners - Mufti Muhammad Ibn Adam Al Kawthari
Naqshband66 replied to ummtaalib's topic in English
Taqleed At A Glance, A Basic Understanding (By Mufti Waseem Khan (Hafizahullah) Taqleed literally means to follow, and according to the technical meaning used in the Shariah, it means ‘to follow someone in what he says, considering it to be the truth, without looking into the evidence for it’. (Baghwi) Based on the above meaning, we find that in reality, all Muslims do Taqleed knowingly or unknowingly. The reason for this is clearly seen from the conduct of all Muslims. Almost all Muslims rely on one scholar or another, from whom they take their advice, and adopt their rulings. All these are done without even knowing the evidence for the ruling. Whether Muslims accept a particular Alim/Shaikh or another, they cannot escape the fact that they rely on the opinions of a person and accept it even though they are not aware of the evidences for the said opinions. full article visit darululoomtt
