Bismillah Asalamu'alaikum Whispers of the Shaytaan Stay in your bed, don’t make a fuss. Your prayers can wait, give in to your nafs. What! Go to the mosque, the path you’ll pave? Don’t bother, think of the gas you’ll save. Why go the extra miles to be kind? Don’t share that smile, they won’t mind Listen to your parents, why should you? You’re big enough, don’t let them tell you what to do! Don’t look at those orphans, what could they need? You have your own problems, and family to feed. Wear good hijab? Oh me, Oh my, you’ll be targeted as a Muslim and put to shame. Just wear no makeup, and dress simple and plain. Go for Jihad? No not you. It’s not your problem, what can you do? Don’t worry about Jannah, your place is reserved. I promise you’ll get all you deserve. Preach about Islam, and be nice? Listen to me, and take my advice!!! Don’t fast during Ramadan, you’ll feel dead. Don’t go for Hajj, the heat you’ll dread. Why give charity, or feed the poor? Don’t do it I say, They’ll just ask for more. Don’t visit the Muslims, they’ll bite your back. Don’t stop your work for prayer, it’s money you lack. Then he makes you hoard your wealth. He thinks while he talks, and laughs to himself. You take me as your friend, and don’t give me a fight. I’ll take you to hell to gain respite. On the judgement day we will meet. Allah’s plan we can not defeat. Shaytan thinks and thinks of more to say. Say A’ oothoo billahi, and make him run away. Dear believer, don’t let shaytan put you to the test. You can overcome him, just do your best. .. May Allah Protect us all from the ways of Shaitan, and may Allah Guide us all and re-unite us as one Ummah . . . Ameen ..

Bismillah How Does the Heart Fasts? ‘And if anyone believes in Allah, (Allah) guides his heart (aright)’ (64:11). The guidance of the heart is the basis of all guidance, the law of all success, the origin of every deed and head of every action. The Prophet saws said: ‘Truly there is a piece of flesh in the body which, if it be wholesome, the whole body will be healthy and which, and if it be diseased the whole body will be diseased. Truly it is the heart.’ Thus the goodness of your heart is the guarantee of your happiness in this world and in the hereafter. Likewise, its corruption is the surest way to destruction, the extent of which only Allah knows. ‘In this, behold, there is indeed a reminder for everyone whose heart is wide-awake - that is [everyone who] lends ear with a conscious mind’ (50:37). Every creature has a heart. In reality though they are two hearts, a heart that is alive and pulsating with the light of faith. It is filled with intense conviction and God-consciousness. The other is a dead heart, covered and diseased with every wreckage and rubbish. Allah Almighty says concerning the hearts of the foolish folk: ‘In their hearts is disease, and so God lets their disease increase’ (2:10). ‘But they say, “Our hearts are already full of knowledge.” Nay, but God has rejected them because of their refusal to acknowledge the truth: for, few are the things in which they believe’ (2:88). Allah also says: ‘Will they not, then, ponder over this Quran? — or are there locks upon their hearts?’ (47:24). ‘And so they say, [as it were:] “Our hearts are veiled from whatever thou callest us to, [O Muhammad,] and in our ears is deafness”’ (41:5). From all these verses we learn that the hearts can become ill, they can be covered, locked and they die. The enemies of Allah have hearts in their bosoms but they do not perceive with these hearts. Hence the Prophet saws used to say: ‘O dispenser of hearts make my heart firm in Your religion.’ The heart of the believer fasts during Ramadan and outside of Ramadan. The fasting of the heart is done by emptying it of all corrupt material such as destructive forms of polytheism, false beliefs, evil suggestions, filthy intentions and degenerate thoughts. The heart of the believer is adorned with the love of Allah. It knows its Lord by His names and His qualities as He has described Himself. This heart explores with a discerning eye the lines of His names and qualities and the pages of Allah’s making in the universe and the books of His creations. The believer’s heart is filled with a brilliant light which does not allow any darkness to remain with it. It is the light of the eternal message, the divine teachings, and the omnipotent laws. To it is added the natural light upon which the servants of Allah were created. Thus two great lights come together. ‘Light upon light! God guides unto His light him that wills [to be guided]; and [to this end] God propounds parables unto men, since God [alone] has full knowledge of all things’ (24:36). The believer’s heart glows like a lamp, shines like the sun and sparkles like the morning light. It increases in faith whenever the believer listens to the verses of the Quran, it grows in conviction when it contemplates, and increases in guidance when it reflects. The believer’s heart abstains from pride because it breaks its fast. Pride does not reside in the heart of a believer because it is unlawful. The abode and dwelling place of pride is the heart. Hence, if it enters any heart, that person will become afflicted, foolish, arrogant and frivolous. Allah Almighty says in a hadith Qudsi: ‘Pride is my upper garment and grandeur is my lower one, whoever contests with me for them I will punish him.’ The Prophet saws himself said: ‘Whoever shows arrogance to Allah, He will humble him, and whoever is humble to Allah, He will raise him in station.’ The heart of the believer fasts and abstains from egotism. Egotism is when the individual sees himself as perfect, better than others and in possession of good qualities that are not found in anyone else. This is destruction in its most naked form. The Prophet saws said: ‘Three things which are totally destructive: a person’s self-centredness and conceit, his reluctance to obey and his following of his desires.’ The cure for this self-importance is to look at one’s own faults, one’s many shortcomings, thousands of sins and misdeeds that one has committed, wrongs that one has done and forgotten but the knowledge of which are with Allah in a book. For Allah is not led astray nor does He forget. The heart of the believer fasts and abstains from envy because it lowers righteous deeds, puts out the light of the heart and stops its progress toward Allah the Most High. Allah says in the Glorious Quran: ‘Do they, perchance, envy other people for what God has granted them out of his bounty? (4:54). And the Prophet saws said: ‘Do not envy one another; do not inflate prices one to another; do not hate one another; do not turn away from one another; and do not undercut one another.’ The Prophet informed one of his companions three times that he would be among the people of Paradise. When he was asked about what was it that earned him a place in Paradise, the man said: ‘I do not sleep with envy, grudge or deceit in my heart for any Muslim.’ Are there any hearts that would, therefore, fast like the learned. The fast of the learned has a yearning for the Most Merciful Lord of the worlds. Their hearts fast at all times and in the early hours of morning they seek forgiveness. O Allah guide our hearts to the straight path and make it firm on faith, O Lord of the worlds

Bismillah 7 Practical Tips for praying Qiyaam al-Layl References 'The Night Prayers' by Muhammad Nasir ud-Deen al-Albanee (rahimahullah), answers by Shaikh Salih al-Munajjad (hafizahullah) and others As-Sunnah Islamic Newsletter Issue 15 What is Qiyaam al-Layl Qiyaam' means 'standing' and 'Qiyaam al-Layl' means 'standing in night.' In the Islamic terminology, both terms refer to, 'the voluntary night prayer, whose time extends from after Isha prayer until dawn.' Other common names for Qiyaam al-Layl are, Salaat ul-Layl (the night prayer), Tahajjud (from hajada meaning remained awake at night), Witr (odd-numbered this term is also used to refer to the last one or three Raka'ah of Qiyaam) and Taraweeh (resting). A widespread misconception is that Tahajjud is a different night prayer than Qiyaam or Taraweeh. It is important to clarify this misunderstanding and to make clear that there is only one nafl night prayer known by different names. Even though the term Taraweeh is more commonly used to describe the night prayer in Ramadan, it is not different from Tahajjud. Thus, the practice of praying Taraweeh in the earlier part of the night and Tahajjud in the later part should be stopped. The Excellence of Qiyaam al-Layl Numerous Ahaadeeth and Qur'aanic verses mention the excellence of Qiyaam al-Layl and the merit of those who perform it regularly. Umm al-Mumineen, Aa'ishah (radhi allahu anha) reported that the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said: "The most beloved deeds to Allah are the most constant, even if they were little." [saheeh al-Bukharee and Saheeh Muslim] and she said in another narration: "Do not ever stop praying Qiyaam. The Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) never ceased praying it. When he was sick or weak, he prayed sitting." [saheeh al-Bukharee and Saheeh Muslims] He (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said: "You should pray Qiyaam al-Layl, for it is the habit of the righteous people who came before you, and it will bring you closer to your Lord, expiate for bad deeds, prevent sin, and expel disease from the body." [At-Tirmidhee and Musnad Ahmad] Narrated Mu'adh Ibn Jabal (radhi allahu anhu): 'The Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said to him: "May I show you the gates of goodness?' (they are), "(a) Fasting is screen from Hell, (b) As-Sadaqah extinguishes the sins, as water extinguishes fire, © Standing in Salaat (prayer) by a slave of Allah during the last third part of a night." Then the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) recited the verse: "Their (believer's) sides forsake their beds, to invoke their Lord in fear and hope; and they spend out of what We have bestowed on them."' [Abu Dawood and at-Tirmidhee] Abu Hurayrah (radhi allahu anhu) reported that Allah's Messenger (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said: "The best of prayer after those prescribed (i.e. obligatory prayer) is that in the depth of night." [saheeh Muslims] Abu Hurayrah (radhi allahu anhu) reported that Allah's Messenger (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said: "May Allah have mercy on a man who wakes up at night, prays, and wakes his wife to pray; and if she refuses, he sprinkles water on her face. And may Allah have mercy on a woman who wakes up at night, prays, and wakes her husband to pray; and if he refuses, she sprinkles water on his face." [(Hasan) Abu Dawood ] Abdullah Ibn Bashr (radhi allahu anhu) reported Allah's Messenger (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) saying: "Whoever prays Qiyaam reciting ten verses, he will not be recorded among the negligent. Whoever prays Qiyaam reciting one hundred verses, he will be recorded among the devout. And whoever prays Qiyaam reciting one thousand verses, he will be recorded among those with a multitude of good deeds." [(Hasan) Abu Dawood] 7 Practical Tips for praying Qiyaam al-Layl 1: Ikhlas (Sincerity) - the key to Allah's Help and Blessings Help of Allah is needed to accomplish and achieve success in all our affairs. And Allah only helps those who are sincere in their hearts. The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said: "If you are truthful with Allah, then Allah will deliver to you what you wish for." [An-Nasa'ee, al-Hakim and Saheeh al-Jamee] Therefore, one should have a sincere intention to pray Qiyaam al-Layl; seek the Pleasure of Allah Alone and avoid the desire of praise or fame. Allah says: "And they were commanded not, but that they should worship Allah, and worship none but Him Alone…" [(98): 5] Imam Ibn al-Qayyim said: "The degree to which a person is helped and aided by Allah depends on the degree of his intention, drive, aim and hopes. Help from Allah comes to people in proportion to their drive intention, hopes and fears, and failure comes to them in like manner." 2: Knowing the Virtues of Qiyaam al-Layl Knowing the virtues and rewards of performing worship produces willingness and desire to perform the worship. We have previously mentioned numerous virtues of regularly praying Qiyaam al-Layl, here we mention the excellence of praying Qiyaam al-Layl particularly in the great month of Ramadan. Abu Hurayrah (radhi allahu anhu) reported: "Allah's Messenger (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) encouraged the people, without making it an absolute command, to perform Qiyaam during Ramadan. He (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) used to say: "Whoever stands (in Qiyaam) in Ramadan out of faith and expectation (of Allah's reward), all his previous sins will be forgiven." [saheeh Muslim] 3: Taking a nap in the daytime Taking a nap before or after Dhur Salaat will dismiss the stress and thus enable one to get up in the night and stand in front of his Lord. The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said: "Take a nap, for the Shayateen (pl. of Shaytan) do not take naps." [Reported by at-Tabaranee. Al-Saheehah (2647)] 4: Sleeping according to the Sunnah of Allah's Messenger (a) Sleep early: Sleeping early is a healthy habit and it was the practice of Allah's Messenger (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) to sleep directly after performing the Isha prayer. Abu Barzah al-Aslami (radhi allahu anhu) said that the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) used to prefer to delay Isha, and he did not like to sleep before it or talk after it." [saheeh al-Bukharee] (b) Sleep in a state of taharah (purity): Ibn Abbas (radhi allahu anhu) reported that Allah's Messenger (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said: "Purify these bodies and Allah will purify you, for there is no slave who goes to sleep in a state of purity but an Angel spends the night with him, and every time he turns over, [the Angel] says, 'O Allah! Forgive Your slave, for he went to bed in a state of purity.'" [Reported by at-Tabaranee. See Saheeh al-Jamee (3831)] © Choose a suitable bed: Excessive luxurious or soft bed provokes laziness and makes one sleep more and become negligent. Aa'ishah (radhi allahu anha) narrates that the pillow of the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) on which he slept at night was made of leather stuffed with palm fibers." [Abu Dawood and Musnad Ahmad. Saheeh al-Jamee (4714)] Once Umar Ibn al-Khattab (radhi allahu anhu) entered upon the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) when he was lying on a mat of palm fibers that had left marks on his side. Umar (radhi allahu anhu) said: "O Messenger of Allah, why do you not get something more comfortable than this?" He (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said: "What do I have to do with this world? My relationship with this world is like that of a traveler on a hot summer's day, who seeks shade under a tree for an hour, then moves on." [Musnad Ahmad and al-Hakim. Saheeh al-Jamee (5545)] (d) Cleaning the bed and lying on the right side Abu Hurayrah (radhi allahu anhu) reported: "The Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said: "When any one of you goes to bed, let him clear his bed by hitting it with his garment, for he does not know what may have come onto it. Then let him lie down on his right side…" [saheeh al-Bukharee and Saheeh Muslim] (e) Reciting the Adhkaar (supplications) mentioned in the Sunnah before sleeping There are a number of Adhkaar prescribed in the Sunnah before going to bed, amongst them are reciting the last verses of Soorah al-Baqarah, reciting Soorah al-Falaq and Soorah al-Nas and Soorah Ikhlas blow in the palms and wipe as much of the body possible, starting from the head, face and then the front of the body doing it three times. [saheeh al-Bukharee and Saheeh Muslim] Ali Ibn Abi Talib (radhi allahu anhu) reported that when the Prophet's daughter, Fatima (radhi allahu anha) came to him and asked him for a servant, he (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said to her and Ali: "Shall I not teach you something that will be better for you than a servant? When you go to bed, say 'SubhanAllah' thirty-three times, 'Al-hamdulillah' thirty-three times, and 'Allahu Akbar' thirty-four times. This is better for you than a servant." [saheeh al-Bukharee and Saheeh Muslim] 5: Avoid too much food and drink Too much food or drink is one of the main obstacles that make one lazy and negligent of Qiyaam al-Layl. The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said: "Man fills no vessel worse than his stomach. It is sufficient for the son of Adam to have a few mouthfuls to give him the strength he needs. If he has to fill his stomach, then let him leave one-third for food, one-third for drink and one-third for air." [Reported by at-Tirmidhee and Ibn Majah. Saheeh al-Jamee (5674)] Abu Juhayfah (radhi allahu anhu) reported that the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said to a man who burped in his presence: "Stop your burping, for the people who eat the most in this life will be the most hungry on the Day of Resurrection." [Reported by al-Hakim. Saheeh al-Jamee (1190)] 6: Striving against oneself: Striving against oneself to get up and pray and suppressing one's desires bring about Allah's help and His Pleasure for the slave. Allah says in the Qur'aan: "Strive in Allah's Cause as you ought to strive…" [soorah al-Hajj (25): 78] "And as for those who strive hard in Our Cause, We will surely guide them to Our Paths. And verily, Allah is with the Muhsinoon (good-doers)." [ (29): 69] The Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said: "The Mujahid (one who strives in way of Allah) is the one who strives against his own self for the sake of Allah." [Reported by al-Tirmidhee. See al-Saheehah (549)] He (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) also said: "When a man from my Ummah gets up to pray at night, striving against his own self to get up and purify himself, there are knots on him. When he washes his hands in wudhu, one knot is undone. When he washes his face, another knot is undone. When he wipes his head another knot is undone. When he washes his feet, another knot is undone. Then Allah says to those who are veiled (in the Unseen): 'Look at this slave of Mine, he is striving against his own self and asking of Me. Whatever My slave asks of Me shall be his." [Musnad Ahmad. See Saheeh al-Targheeb (627) 7: Rebuking one's self for not praying Qiyaam al-Layl Qiyaam al-Layl is a great blessing from Allah, the Exalted, and He has placed in it numerous spiritual benefits and rewards for the believer. Therefore, one should rebuke one's self, if he misses this great opportunity of achieving rewards and Pleasure of Allah. Allah says in the Qur'aan: "O you who believe! Fear Allah and keep your duty to Him. And let every person look to what he has sent forth for the morrow, and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is All-Aware of what you do." [(59): 18] Imam Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullah) said: "If the slave is responsible and accountable for everything, even his hearing, sight and innermost thoughts, as Allah says, "…Verily, hearing, sight, and the heart of each of you will be questioned by Allah." [soorah al-Isra (17): 36], then he should check on himself before he is brought to account."

Bismillah Ramadaan: Save the Changes Nearly everyone in this age of modern technology has at some stage worked with a P.C. We have used it to draft documents, amend these documents, copied and pasted onto documents, used the 'undo' icon, edited documents, just to mention a few of the time saving operations that we find on this device. After opening a document that we have worked upon previously and made the necessary changes and improvements a little box appears on the screen asking the question: Do you want to save the changes you have made to this document? You are then given the option of selecting the YES button or the NO button. Selecting the YES button will give you the desired results while selecting the NO button literally takes you back to square one. All the effort made in editing, improving and shaping the document becomes an exercise in futility. Don't we all find ourselves in a similar predicament when the blessed month of Ramadaan passes us? Just think of your book of deeds like a document on your P.C. During the month of Ramadaan we have done amongst other things the following- · Increased our ibaadah and acts of charity · Taken control of our feelings and emotion · Responded with compassion and sensitivity to the needs of other. · Multiplied our good deeds At the same time we have spent many hours on the Musallah begging for Allah's forgiveness for our sins, errors and transgressions. The vital question that needs to be asked is : Do we want to save the changes that we have made in the month of Ramadaan?, Are we going to press the YES button or the No button? Pressing the YES button will leave us with a new, improved version. A version of heightened spirituality, a version of righteousness, a version that is pleasing to our Creator. Pressing the NO button will take us back to square one; back to our old habits before Ramadaan, back to the life of sin and immorality, back to a life of heedlessness and back to a life subjecting ourselves to the wrath of the Almighty. How do we improve on this document; the document of our lives, the document of our deeds, the document that we are going to present to Allah the Almighty on the Day of Reckoning. Here are some hints: Copy and Paste from the life of our illustrious master Muhammad (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) Use the 'undo' icon by making taubah immediately after any transgression as the Hadith states "The one who repents from sin is like one who has committed no sin at all" There may not be a need to do a "spell check" but there is certainly a need to do a "sincerity check" and a "shari'ah check" Are we complying? There may be files and folders that we want to keep while there could be some others we would not even want others to know exist. Many of us begged Allah to "delete" our sins and dark deeds .We cried before Allah, shed tears of remorse and vowed not to commit those sins in future. Going back to the sins that we have asked Allah's forgiveness for would be like making a visit to the "recycle bin". What about viruses? P.C. users are also very wary about e-mails they receive and the sites that they visit, fearing the admission of a virus that may pollute their system and cause it to malfunction. Why do we then subject our minds and thoughts to immoral sites and dens of vice which would pollute our moral system and cause us to malfunction? What anti-virus software have we installed to ward off the variety of fitnahs that confront us everyday? Fortunate is the person who has saved the changes. Even more unfortunate is the person who has made no changes as he /she has nothing to save.

Bismillah The three portions of Ramadhan O people, there comes upon you a great month, a most blessed month, in which lies a night greater in worth than one thousand months. Allah has made compulsory Fasting in this month and has decreed wakefulness at night (i.e. Taraaweeh) Sunnah. Whosoever tries drawing nearer to Allah by performing any Nafl (optional) deed in this month, for him shall be such reward as if he had performed a Fardh in any other time of the year. And whoever performs a Fardh, for him shall be the reward of seventy Fardh in any other time of the year. This is indeed the month of patience, and the reward for true patience is Jannah; it is the month of sympathy with one's fellowmen; it is the month wherein a true believer's Rizq (provision) is increased. The month of Ramadhaan, the month of blessings has come to you, wherein Allah turns towards you and sends down to you this special Mercy, forgives your faults, accepts prayers, appreciates your competition for the greatest good and boasts to the angels about you. So show to Allah your righteousness; for verily, the most pitiable and unfortunate one is he who is deprived of Allah's Mercy in this month. (Tabraani) The First Part When the month of Ramadhaan comes, the doors of Jannah are thrown open and the doors of Jahannam are closed and the shayaateen are chained up. (Bukhaari, Muslim) On the authority of Abu Harayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet , who said: "Allah (mighty and sublime be He) says: 'Fasting is Mine and it I who give reward for it. [A man] gives up his sexual passion, his food and his drink for my sake. Fasting is like a shield, and he who fasts has two joys: a joy whin he breaks his fast and a joy when he meets his Lord. The change in the breath of the mouth of him who fasts is better in Allah's estimation than the smell of musk.'" (Bukhari & Muslim) The Middle And hasten to forgiveness from your Lord, and a Garden the extensiveness of which is the heavens and the earth, prepared for those who guard against evil. (3:132) The Last part The night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is better than a thousand months (i.e. worshipping Allâh in that night is better than worshipping Him a thousand months, i.e. 83 years and 4 months) [Al-Qadr: 3] Whoever established prayers on the night of Qadr out of sincere faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven; and whoever fasts in the month of Ramadan out of sincere faith, and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven [bukhari] Narrated Aisha: With the start of the last ten days of Ramadan, the Prophet used to tighten his waist belt (i.e. work hard) and used to pray all the night, and used to keep his family awake for the prayers. [bukhari, Vol 3, Book 32, Number 241] Narrated 'Ubada bin As-Samit: The Prophet came out to inform us about the Night of Qadr but two Muslims were quarreling with each other. So, the Prophet said, "I came out to inform you about the Night of Qadr but such-and-such persons were quarreling, so the news about it had been taken away; yet that might be for your own good, so search for it on the 29th, 27th and 25th (of Ramadan) [bukhari, Vol 3, Book 32, Number 240] Sayyidina Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudree (R.A.) narrates that the Prophet (saw) said: "When the first night of Ramadhaan dawns, the doors of the skies are opened, and none of its doors are then closed until the last night of Ramadhaan. No believing servant (of Allah) performs Salaah during its night (any night of Ramadhaan), but Allah will record for him 1500 hasanah (rewards) for every sajdah that he makes. And Allah will build a home for him in Jannah made out of red ruby, which will have 60000 doors, each of its doors having (interlinked to, leading to) a palace made out of gold, ornamented (beautified and decorated) with rubies. Thus, when he (the mu?min) fasts on the first day of Ramadhaan, all his past sins are pardoned, and seventy thousand malaaika make istighfar for him, daily, from the time of the Fajr salaah, until the sun sets. And for every sajdah that he makes during Ramadhaan, either by day or by night, there will be for him a tree, (in Jannah, so huge that) a person on horseback will ride in its shade for five hundred years." [baijaqi, Targheeb] Narrated Abu Hurayrah: Allah's Messenger said, "Ramadan, a blessed month, has come to you during which Allah has made it obligatory for you to fast. In it the gates of Heaven are opened, the gates of al-Jahim are locked, and the rebellious devils are chained. In it Allah has a night which is better than a thousand months. He who is deprived of its good has indeed suffered deprivation." [Ahmad and Nasa'i transmitted it, Tirmidhi No 1962] Narrated Anas ibn Malik: Allah's Messenger said that when Laylat al-Qadr comes, Gabriel descends with a company of angels who invoke blessings on ever who is standing or sitting and remembering Allah, who is Great and Glorious. Then when their festival day comes, i.e. the day when they break their fast, Allah speaks proudly of them to His angels saying, "My angels, what is the reward of a hired servant who has fully accomplished his work?" They reply, "Our Lord, his reward is that he should be paid his wage in full." He says, "My angels, My male and female servants have fulfilled what I have made obligatory for them, and then have come out raising their voices in supplication. By My might, glory, honour, high dignity and exalted station, I shall certainly answer them." Then He says, "Return, for I have forgiven you and changed your evil deeds into good deeds." He said that they then returned having received forgiveness. [bayhaqi transmitted it in Shu'ab al-Iman, Tirmidhi, Number 2096] Narrated Anas ibn Malik and Ubayy ibn Ka'b: The Prophet was accustomed to engage in private devotion (i'tikaf) in the mosque during the last ten nights of Ramadan; but one year he omitted it and he engaged in it for twenty nights the next year. [Tirmidhi Number 2102 , and AbuDawud and Ibn Majah transmitted it from Ubayy ibn Ka'b] Indeed the loser is the person who doesn’t become closer to Allaah(SWT) in this month. Kaab Ibn Ujrah (RA) relates that Rasulullah (SAW) said Come near to the mimbar and we came near the mimbar. When He (SAW) climbed the first step of the mimbar, He (SAW) said "Aameen", When He (SAW) ascended the second step, He (SAW) said "Aameen", When He (SAW) climbed the third step, He (SAW) said "Aameen" When He (SAW) came down, We said "O Rasool of Allah (SAW), we have heard from you today something which we never heard before" He (SAW) said When I climbed the first step, the angel Jibraeel (A.S.) appeared before me and said "Destruction to him who found the blessed month of Ramdhan and let it pass by without gaining forgiveness" upon that I said 'Aameen'. When I climbed the second step, he said, "Destruction to him before whom thy name is taken and then he does not make Dua for Allah's blessing on me (by saying, for example SAW)." I replied 'Aameen'. When I climbed the third step, he said "Destruction unto him in whose lifetime his parents or either one of them reaches old age, and (through failure to serve them) he is not allowed to enter Jannah". I said 'Aameen'. (Hakim, Baihaqi) Note In this Hadith, it appears that Jibraeel (AS) gave expression to three curses, upon which Rasulullah (SAW) said Aameen every time. In al-Durr al-Mansoor it is reported that Jibraeel (AS) advised Rasulullah (SAW) to say Aameen. Being an angel of such high mark, Jibraeel 's giving these curses is sure to be accepted. May Allah (Subhanahu wa Taala) in His infinite mercy grant us His help and save us from these three dangers. May Allah grant all Muslims in the blessed month of Ramadan forgiveness, guidance, relief from all hardships, protection from their enemies and the victory against disbelief. _________________________________

Bismillah RAMADHAN : The Month of Oppurtunity O you who believe! Observing As-Saum (Fasting) is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may attain Taqwa (piety) [Al-Baqarah: 183] When the month of Ramadan starts, the gates of the heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed and the devils are chained.[bukhari Volume 3, Book 31, Number 123] "Fasting is a shield and a powerful fortress." [Ahmad, Baihaqi] “All the good deeds of the son of Adam multiply his reward from ten to seven hundred times. Allah said: ‘Except for fasting, for it is for Me and I reward for it.’” Jabir (RA) related that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "In every day and every night, during the month of Ramadan, there are people to whom Allah grants freedom from the Fire, and there is for every Muslim a supplication which he can make and it will be granted". [Ahmad] The Unrestricted Reward There is a gate in Paradise called Ar-Raiyan, and those who observe fasts will enter through it on the Day of Resurrection and none except them will enter through it. [bukhari] Every servant of Allah who observes fast for a day in the way of Allah, Allah would remove because of this day, his face farther from the Fire (of Hell) to the extent of seventy years' distance. [Muslim] Allah, the Majestic and the Exalted, said: Every act of the son of Adam is for him except fasting. It is done for my sake, and I will give a reward for it. By Allah in Whose Hand is the life of Muhammad [sAW], the breath of the observer of fast is sweeter to Allah than the fragrance of musk. [Muslim] Dua which is not rejected Abu Hurairah (RA) reported that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "There are three people whose supplications are not rejected. The fasting person when he breaks the fast, the just ruler and the supplication of the oppressed". [at-Tirmidhi] Beneficial actions during this month Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: Allah's Apostle was the most generous of all the people, and he used to reach the peak in generosity in the month of Ramadan when Gabriel met him. Gabriel used to meet him every night of Ramadan to teach him the Qur'an. Allah's Apostle was the most generous person, even more generous than the strong uncontrollable wind (in readiness and haste to do charitable deeds) [bukhari, Volume 1, Book 1, Number 5] The Messenger of Allah(SAW) said, ‘Fasting and reciting Qur'an intercede for the slave on the Day of Resurrection. The fast will say: O Allah, I prevented him from eating and satiating his lawful lust, so let me intercede on his behalf; and the Qur'an will say: I prevented him from sleeping during the night, so let me intercede for him.’ (Ahmad & Tabaraani) Abu Umaamah(RA) reports that (SAW) said: “Recite the Quran for indeed it will come on the Day of Judgment as an intercessor for its Ashaab (those who read, memorise and implement it) The people will remain on the right path as long as they hasten the breaking of the fast [bukhari] Open your fast with dates, if it is not possible with dates then with water, dates is blessed and water purifies [Tirmidhi (Kitab ul Zakat) and Abu Dawood (Kitab ul Saum)] The difference between our fasting and that of the people of the Book is eating shortly before dawn and the meal is blessed [Muslim] There should be a time span of at least fifty verses between our Suhur and observing of Salat [Muslim] To feed a person fasting to open his fast is righteous, the reward for it is the same as the person fasting while no reward is deducted from the person fasting [Tirmidhi (Kitab ul Saum)] The Sahabah asked: “Oh messenger of Allah none of us finds means wherewith to give food to a fasting man!” He (SAW) replied: “Allah will bestow this reward on one who gives food to a fasting man even if it is a sip of milk or a date or a sip of water. And whosoever gives satisfaction to a man, Allah will give him a drink from my fountain that will not make him thirsty till he will enter Paradise. And it is a month of which the beginning is mercy, the middle is forgiveness and the end is freedom from the fire. And whosoever makes light the (burden of) his covenanted slaves therein, Allah will forgive him, and He will make him free from the fire.” [Mishkat ul Masabih] Reprehensible acts during this month Whoever does not give up telling lies and evil actions, Allah is not in need of his leaving his food and drink (i.e. Allah will not accept his fasting.) [bukhari] If one of you is fasting, he should avoid quarrelling, and if somebody should fight or quarrel with him, he should say, 'I am fasting’ [bukhari] A person who breaks the fast in Ramadan should free a slave or observe fasts for two (consecutive) months or feed sixty poor persons [Muslim] Time for repentance O you who believe! Turn to Allâh with sincere repentance! It may be that your Lord will remit from you your sins, and admit you into Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise) the Day that Allâh will not disgrace the Prophet (Muhammad SAW) and those who believe with him, their Light will run forward before them and with (their Records Books of deeds) in their right hands they will say: "Our Lord! Keep perfect our Light for us [and do not put it off till we cross over the Sirât (a slippery bridge over the Hell) safely] and grant us forgiveness. Verily, You are Able to do all things" [Al-Tahrim: 8] Hudhaifah Ibn al-Yaman reported that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "The evils caused for a man through his family, wealth and neighbour are expiated by prayer, fasting and charity." [bukhari and Muslim] DUA Abdullah Ibn Amr Ibn al-Aas also reported that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "Indeed there is for the fasting person, when he breaks his fast, a supplication which is not rejected". Bismillah Make the Most of the Last Ten Days Greater Than a Thousand Months "Most certainly We have revealed it in the Night of Power; And what will inform you what is the Night of Power? The Night of Power is greater than a thousand months; The angels and Jibraeel (alayhis salaam) descend in it with the permission of your Lord with all decrees; Peace prevails till the rising of dawn." (Surah Qadr) The Night of Power is indeed unique in every sense. Most befittingly it has been afforded exclusively to the Ummat of Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), which is in itself unique from all previous Ummats (nations). The magnanimous rewards and benefits of this auspicious night also dictate that its occurrence remains partially disclosed. Allah Ta’ala alone knows the true date of Laylatul Qadr and those wanting to earn this night have to vigilantly search for it in the odd nights of the last ten nights of Ramadaan. The person who finds this night and observes it appropriately earns himself a great fortune, a fortune that will only be realised and appreciated in the hereafter. It has been the practice of Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam), the Sahaba (radiyallahu anhum), Mashaikh, Ulama and generations of Muslims too observe I’tikaaf (seclusion) in the Masjid during the last ten days of Ramadaan in search of this auspicious night. Ubada bin Saamit (radiyallahu anhu) reports that he asked Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) about "Laylatul Qadr". Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) replied: "It is in Ramadaan, during the last ten days, on the unevenly numbered nights, either the 21st 23rd, 25th, 27th, 29th or the last night of Ramadaan. Whosoever stands in 'Ibadah' (worship) on this night, with sincere faith and conviction of gaining reward, his previous sins will be forgiven. Among the signs of this night is that it is a serene, quiet, shining night, neither hot, nor cold but temperate as if a moon is shining clear, and no meteors are shot at the 'Shayateen' on that night; it lasts until the break of dawn. Another sign is that in the morning, the sun rises without any radiant beams of light, appearing rather like the moon in its fullness. On that day, Allah Ta’ala prohibits the 'Shayateen' from rising up with the sun." (Fazaail A’maal) May Allah Ta’ala grant us all this auspicious night. I'tikaaf in the Last Ten Days of Ramadan The observation of I’tikaaf during the last ten days of Ramadaan was a practice which Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) observed assiduously throughout his life in Madinah Munawwarah. The devotion that Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) attached to this beautiful Sunnah can be understood by the fact that on one occasion when he was unable to observe I’tikaaf, due to being out on an expedition, he observed twenty days I’tikaaf the following year. The spiritual benefits that are attained from this wonderful Sunnah are innumerable. Who can possibly describe the spiritual ecstasy experienced from communicating in solitude with Allah Ta’ala, while one is a guest in the Masjid with the Malaaikah (angels) as his companions. Undisturbed seclusion in the Masjid is indeed an excellent way to exclusively engage oneself in personal communication with Allah Ta’ala. Away from the comfort of the home, family members and daily work routine, I’tikaaf enhances one’s proximity to Allah Ta’ala and secures the internal and external purification of the Mu’takif . Remember! Such precious moments come but once a year - and who can guarantee being present for the next Ramadaan. Hazrat Abdullah Ibn Abbas (radiyallahu anhuma ) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said; "Whosoever performs I’tikaaf for a day thereby seeking the pleasure of Allah Ta’ala, Allah Ta’ala will open three trenches between him and the fire of hell, the width of each (trench) being the distance between the heaven and the earth." (Tabraani) The Ulama, considering the importance attached by Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) to this noble practice, have ruled it necessary that this Sunnah be observed by at least one member of every locality. Failure to do so will result in the entire locality being guilty of neglecting this great Sunnah.

Bismillah As well as the Hadith which refer to Jesus (peace be upon him), there are also many Muslim traditions which give accounts of the sayings and deeds of Jesus (pbuh). These were originally gathered together by the earlier followers of Jesus, especially those who spread to Arabia and North Africa. When the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) came, many of the followers of these followers embraced Islam. They retained all the accounts they had about Jesus (pbuh) who had foretold the coming of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). These traditions were passed down from generation to generation by the Muslims, and many of them were finally gethered together in Tha'labi's Stories of the Prophets and in al-Ghazzali's Revival of the Life-Transaction Sciences. It is significant to see how these traditions give a clear and unanimous picture of the ascetic Prophet who prepared the way for the final Messenger: Ka'b al-Akhbar said: Jesus, son of Mary, was a ruddy man, inclined to white; he did not have long hair and he never annointed his head. Jesus used to walk barefoot, and he took no house or adornment, or goods, or clothes, or provision except his day's food. Wherever the sun set, he arranged his feet in prayer till the morning came. He was curing the blind from birth and the leper and raising the dead by Allah's permission and was telling his people what they were eating in their houses and what they were storing up for the morrow, and he was walking on the surface of the water in the sea. His head was dishevelled and his face was small; he was an ascetic in the world, longing for the next world and eager for the worship of Allah. He was a pilgrim in the earth till the Jews sought him and desired to kill him. Then Allah raised him up to heaven; and Allah knows best. ******************** Malik, son of Dinar, said: Jesus (pbuh) and the disciples with him passed by the carcass of a dog. A disciple said, "What a stench this dog makes!" The he (pbuh) said, "How white are its teeth!" ******************** It is related on the authority of Ma'ruf al Karkhi that Jesus (pbuh) said, "Remember cotton when it is put over your eyes." ******************** In a tradition (it is said) that Jesus (pbuh), son of Mary, met a man and said to him, "What are you doing?" He replied, "I am devoting myself to God." He said, "Who is giving you what you need?" He said, "My brother." (Jesus) said, "He is more devoted to Allah than you." ******************** Jesus (pbuh), son of Mary, said: "The world consists of three days: yesterday which has passed, from which you have nothing in your hand; tomorrow of which you do not know whether you will reach it or not; and today in which you are, so avail yourself of it." ******************** The disciples said to Jesus (pbuh), "How is it that you can walk on water and we cannot?" Then he said to them, "What do you think of the dinar and the dirham?" (pieces of money). They replied, "They are good." He said, "But they and mud are alike to me." ******************** When Jesus (pbuh) was asked, "How are you this morning?", he would answer, "Unable to forestall what I hope, or to put off what I fear, bound by my works, with all my good in another's hand. There is no poor man poorer than I." ******************** And he said also, "The world is both seeking and sought. He who seeks the next world, this world seeks him until his provision in it is complete; and he who seeks the present world, the next world seeks him until death comes and seizes him by the neck." ******************** If you wish, you may follow him who was the Spirit and the Word, Jesus (pbuh), son of Mary, for he used to say, "My seasoning is hunger, my undergarment is fear of Allah, my outer-garment is wool, my fire in winter is the rays of the sun, my lamp is the moon, my riding beast is my feet, and my food and fruit are what the earth brings forth (i.e. without cultivation). At night I have nothing and in the morning I have nothing, yet there is no one on earth richer than I." ******************** Jesus (pbuh) said, "He who seeks after the world is like one who drinks sea water; the more he drinks, the more his thirst increases, until it kills him." ******************** It is related that the Messiah (pbuh) passed in his wandering a man asleep wrapped up in his cloak; then he wakened him and said, "O sleeper, arise and glorify Allah! Exalted is He!" Then the man said, "What do you want from me? Truly I have abandoned the world to its people." So he said to him, "Sleep then, my friend." ******************** 'Ubaid, son of 'Umar, said that the Messiah (pbuh), son of Mary, used to wear hair clothing, and eat wild fruits, and he had no son to die, and no house to be demolished, and he stored up nothing for the morrow. He slept wherever the evening overtook him. ******************** Jesus, the Messiah, (pbuh) used to take nothing with him but a comb and a jug. The he saw a man combing his beard with his fingers, so he threw away the comb; and he saw another man drinking from a river with the palms of his hands, so he threw away the jug. ******************** Jesus (pbuh) said to the disciples, "Take the places of worship as houses and the houses as lighting-places; and eat wild vegetables and drink pure water, and escape safe from the world." ******************** Jesus (pbuh), son of Mary, said, "In the last days there will be learned men who teach abstinence in the world but will not be abstinent themselves, who will teach men to take delight in the next world but will not take delight in it themselves, and who will warn men against coming before rulers but will not refrain themselves. They will draw near to the rich and keep far from the poor; they will be pleasant to great men but will shrink from humble men. Those are the brethren of the devils and the enemies of the Merciful." ******************** The following is related on the authority of Janir, on the authority of Laith. A man accompanied Jesus (pbuh), son of Mary, and said, "I will be with you and will accompany you." So they set off and came to the bank of a river and sat down to breakfast; and they had three loaves. They ate two loaves, and a third loaf was left over. Then Jesus (pbuh) rose up and went to the river and drank, after which he returned, but did not find the loaf; so he said to the man, "Who took the loaf" He replied, "I do not know." Then he set off with his companion and saw a gazelle with two of her young. The narrator says, he called one of them and it came to him; then he cut its throat and roasted part of it, and he and that man ate. Then he said to the young gazelle, "Rise, by the permission of Allah." When it rose and went away, he said to the man, "I ask you by Him Who has shown you this sign, who took the loaf?" He replied, "I do not know." Afterwards they came to a wadi with water in it and Jesus (pbuh) took the man's hand and they walked on the water. Then, when they had crossed, he said to him, "I ask you by Him Who has shown you this sign, who took the loaf?" He replied, "I do not know." Then they came to a desert and sat down, and Jesus (pbuh) began to collect earth and a heap of sand, after which he said, "Become gold, and he divided it into three parts and said, "A third is for me, a third for you, and a third for him who took the loaf." Then he said, "I am the one who took the loaf." He said, "It is all yours." Jesus (pbuh) then left him and two men came to him in the desert while he had the wealth with him and wished to take it from him and kill him. He said, "It is among us in thirds; so send one of you to the village to buy food for us to eat." The narrator said: They sent one of them, and he who was sent said to himself, "Why should I devide this wealth with these men? I shall put poison in this food and kill them and take the wealth myself." So he did so. And these two men said, "Why should we give this man a third of the wealth? When he returns we shall kill him, and devide the wealth between us." The narrator said: So when he returned they killed him and ate the food and died; and that wealth remained in the desert with those three men lying dead beside it. Then Jesus (pbuh) passed them in that condition and said to his companions, "This is the world, so beware of it." ******************** It is related that Jesus (pbuh) passed three people whose bodies were wasted and who were pale and said, "What has brought on you that which I see?" They replied, "Fear of the Fire." He said, "It is Allah's duty to render secure him who fears." Afterwards he passed from them and came to another three, and lo! they were in greater emanciation and paleness, so he said, "What has brought on you that which I see?" They replied, "Desire for the Garden." He said, "It is Allah's duty to give you what you hope for." After that he passed from them and came to another three, and lo! they were in still greater emanciation and paleness as though mirrors of light were over their faces, so he said, "What has brought on you that which I see?" The replied, "We love Allah, Great and Glorious is He." He said, "You are those who are nearest to Allah; you are those who are nearest to Allah; you are those who are nearest to Allah." ******************** It is related on the authority of Muhammad, son of Abu Musa, concerning Jesus (pbuh), son of Mary, that he passed an afflicted man and treated him kindly and said, "Oh Allah, I beseech You to heal him." Then Allah, Exalted is He, revealed to him, "How can I heal him from that which I am healing him?" ******************** It is related that Jesus (pbuh) one day passed a hill in which he saw a cell. He drew near it and found in it a devotee whose back was bent, whose body was wasted, and in whom austerity had reached its utmost limits. Jesus saluted him and wondered at his evidences (of devotion) which he saw. So Jesus said to him, "How long have you been in this place?" He replied, "For seventy years I have been asking Him for one thing which He has not granted me yet. Perhaps you, O Spirit of Allah, may intercede for me concerning it; then possibly it may be granted." Jesus said, "What is your requirement?" He replied, "I asked Him to let me taste the amount of an atom of His pure love." Jesus said to him, "I shall pray to Allah for you about that." So he prayed for him that night, and Allah, Exalted is He, revealed to him, "I have accepted your intercession and granted your request." Jesus (pbuh) returned to him to the place after some days to see what the condition of the devotee was, and saw the cell had fallen down and a great fissure had appeared in the ground below it. Jesus (pbuh) went down into that fissure and went some leagues in it and saw the devotee in a cave under that hill standing with his eyes staring and his mouth open. Then Jesus saluted him but he did not give him an answer. While Jesus (pbuh) was wondering at his condition someone shouted to him, "O Jesus, he has asked Us for something like an atom of Our pure love, and We knew that he was not able for that, so We gave him a seventieth part of an atom, and he is bewildered in it thus; so what would it have been like if We had given him more than that?" ******************** Abdullah bin Umar reported Allah's Messenger (pbuh) as saying, "Last night I found myself in a vision at the Ka'ba and saw a ruddy man like the most good-looking of that type that you can see with the most beautiful lock of hair you can see. He had combed it out, and it was dripping with water. He was leaning on the shoulders of two men and going round the House. When I asked who he was, I was told that he was the Messiah, son of Mary..." [bukhari, Muslim] ******************** Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (pbuh) as saying, "By Him in whose hand my soul is, the son of Mary will soon descend among you as a just judge. He will break crosses, kill swine and abolish the jizya (a tax payable by a community which accepts the protection of a Muslim ruler but whose members do not embrace Islam), and wealth will pour forth to such an extent that no one will accept it, and one sajda (the position in a Muslim's prayer where the forehead is placed on the ground), will be better than the world and what it contains." Abu Huraira used to say: Recite if you wish, "Not one of the people of the Book will fait to believe in him before his death..." (Qur'an 4.159) [bukhari, Muslim] ******************** Abdullah bin Amr reported Sayyidina Muhammad (pbuh) as saying, "Jesus, son of Mary, will descend to the earth, will marry, have children, and remain forty-five years, after which he will die and be buried along with me in my grave. Then Jesus, son of Mary, and I shall arise from one grave between Abu Bakr and Umar." [ibn al-Jauzi transmitted it in the Kitab al-Wafa'] ******************** Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (pbuh) as saying, "I am the nearest of kin to Jesus, son of Mary, in this world and the next. The prophets are brothers, sons of one father by co-wives. Their mothers are different, but their religion is one. There has been no prophet between us." [bukhari, Muslim] In this famous statement, the last of the Prophets and Messengers, our Master Muhammad (pbuh), summed up the whole matter: The prophets are brothers: they are all the same, there is no distinction between them. Sond of one father: they all declare one doctrine -- La ilaha il'Allah. There is no god but Allah, the One. Nothing can be associated with Him in His Divinity. Their mothers are different: each Prophet has been sent to a particular people at a particular time. The Prophet of the time has had revealed to him a Sunna, or life-form, a practice, a social pattern by which his community should live. When a new Prophet came to a people, he brought a new form of this Sunna to accord with the new age. This is the Shari'a or Road of the Prophets. Thus, with the coming of Sayyidina Muhammad (pbuh), the Divine Transaction is complete. Messengership is sealed in the last revealed Book, the Glorious Qur'an. Prophethood is sealed with the Shari'a and the Sunna of the compassionate Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.

Bismillah How Jesus Christ (p) Described the Glory of the Prophet Muhammad (p) by Dr. Ahmad Shafaat (1983) We present here some traditions attributed to prophet Jesus (may peace be upon him), in which that great prophet talks about the Chief of all Prophets, Hazarat Muhammad (may God bless him ever more). The traditions are naturally in the form of prophecies, since the Prophet Jesus lived before the time of our Prophet Muhammad. But they have value not merely as prophecies: they also provide one of the most beautiful tributes to the glory of the Prophet of Islam ever written. The traditions are from a version of the Gospel of Barnabas compiled by a thirteenth century Italian on the basis of early Christian sources. Jesus said, "Philip! God is a Good without which there is nothing good: God is a Being without which there is nothing that has existence; God is a Life without which there is nothing that lives. He has no equal. He had no beginning, nor will He have an end, but to everything has He given a beginning and to everything shall He give an end. He has no father nor mother; He has no sons, nor brethren nor companions." Philip answered: "Master, what sayest thou? It is surely written in Isaiah that God is our father: how, then, hath He no sons?" Jesus answered: "There are written by the prophets many parables, wherefore one ought not attend to the letter, but to the sense. For all the prophets, that are one hundred and forty-four thousand, have spoken ambiguously. But after me shall come the Splendor of all the prophets who shall shed light upon the ambiguities of all that the prophets have said, because he is the Messenger of God. "Verily, I say unto you that every prophet when he is come has borne the mark of the mercy of God to one nation only. And so their words were not extended save to the people to which they were sent. But the Messenger of God, when he shall come, will be given as it were the seal of the hand of God, insomuch as he shall carry salvation and mercy to all the nations of the world that shall receive his doctrine. He shall come with power upon the ungodly, and shall destroy idolatry for, so promised God to Abraham, saying: 'Behold, in thy seed I will bless all the tribes of the earth; and as thou hast broken in pieces the idols, O Abraham, even so shall thy seed do.' "I therefore say unto you, that the Messenger of God is a splendor that shall give gladness to nearly all that God has made, for he is adorned with the spirit of understanding and counsel, the spirit of wisdom and might, of fear and love, prudence and temperance; he is adorned with the spirit of charity and mercy, of justice and piety and gentleness and patience, which he has received from God three times more than He has given to all His creatures combined. Blessed will be the time when he shall come to the world! Believe me that I have seen him and have done him reverence, even as every prophet has seen him. And when I saw him my soul was filled with consolation, saying, 'O Admirable One! God be with thee, and may he make me worthy to untie thy shoe-latchet for obtaining this I shall be a great prophet and holy one of God.' "As for me, I am now come to the world to prepare the way for the Messenger of God, who shall bring salvation to the world. By the living God, in whose presence my soul stands, I am not the Savior whom all the tribes of the earth expect." Then said the Priest: "How shall the Savior be called, and what sign shall reveal his coming?" Jesus answered: "The name of the Savior shall be the Admirable One, for, God himself gave him the name when he had created his soul, and placed it in celestial splendor. God said, 'Wait O Admirable One (=Muhammad), for thy sake I will create paradise, the world, and a great multitude of creatures, whereas I make thee a present, insomuch that whosoever shall curse the shall be cursed. When I send thee into the world, I shall send thee as My Messenger of Salvation, and thy world shall be true insomuch that heaven and earth shall fail but thy faith shall never fail. Admirable One is his blessed name." Then the crowd lifted up their voices, saying: "O God send Thy Messenger. O Admirable One come quickly for the salvation of the world."

Isn’t it unscientific? Well that’s how an atheist mind works. Let’s ask an atheist when you first see a newly invented machine, who do you think can explain its working with utmost accuracy? The atheist may answer its manufacturer or inventor. Let us talk about the creation with Quranic perspective. • Shape of the earth-Sir Francis drake sailed around the Globe to discover that world was spherical. This has been mentioned in the quran in Surah Nabaa 79:30 ‘Thereafter we have made the Earth egg shaped(ostrich egg). • Sun also revolves and rotates which was discovered only recently, mentioned in surah anbiya ‘And He it is Who created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon. They float, each in an orbit.’ • In surah zumur 39:5 ‘He created the heavens and the earth in true (proportions): He makes the Night overlap the Day, and the Day overlap the Night: He has subjected the sun and the moon (to His law): Each one follows a course for a time appointed. Is not He the Exalted in Power - He Who forgives again and again?’ The universe is expanding, which was again discovered by using the Doppler effect that the heavenly bodies are drifting away. This was mentioned in surah dhariyat 51:47 ‘With power and skill did We construct the Firmament: for it is We Who create the vastness of Space.’ The Quran talks extensively about the water cycle in surah zumur 39:31 Surah al muminoon 23 verse 18 Surah al hijr 15 verse 43 • Quran also speaks about geology in Surah nabaa 78:6-7 ‘Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse’ ‘And the mountains as pegs? ‘ • Quran also says that Every living thing is made of water in surah anbiyah chapter 21 verse30 Who could have mentioned all these facts that were discovered only recently, definitely it should be the creator the inventor or the manufacturer. An atheist goes on and asks If the universe is so complicated and requires a creator then how come this creator(God) does not require one. We must understand that the creation has to be different than its creator, creation is bound by time and space they have a beginning and an end, their might is definitely lesser than the creator who is not bound by time and space, he is not created does not need a beginning or an end, this is how a creator (God) is more mightier than His creation.

Bismillah Beauty Of Islam Islam comes from the root word ‘salam’ or peace. It is the way of life obtained by complete submission to Allah(SWT) the creator. Islam enjoins a Muslim humble himself in every aspect of life before his creator. This humbleness can only be obtained by complete submission, obedience and trust in Allah(SWT).It aims at unifying humanity on the foundation of its fundamental pillar of worship of one true God Allah(SWT).Islam enjoins us so in order to establish peace on an individual level, community level and globally. This fundamental tenet is inevitable to eradicate all evils, all anarchist systems and establish harmony. Islam with its beautiful principles and practical approach contains all essential elements to do away with evil and corruption. What makes Islam unique, beautiful and an essential strategy in establishing peace is that it ordains all preventive measures to avoid evil , it also ordains all measures to deal with injustice and every measure to instruct humanity toward the goal of universal peace. All these aspects are not found in totality in any other world religion. To illustrate, let me give you an example, take the case of crimes against women like rape. Islam ordains a preventive measure called ‘Hijab’ or veil to guard modesty for men and women, to deal with injustice it ordains a strict punishment for the offender and instructs humanity to decency and abstinence from every evil that leads to it. The other beautiful aspect of Islam is that it is the truth from the creator, deriving its teachings from the word of Allah(SWT) directly and addressed to mankind as a whole. This word is a universal message, the Holy Quran whose authenticity can be proved to this day by historians and critics and whose simplicity, guidance, knowledge and mercy to the hearts is incomparable. In His book Allah(SWT) himself chalks out a way of life for mankind with His messenger Muhammad(pbuh) as a role model to demonstrate its practical liability through al times. Islam is a religion which strives for peace and only allows its adherents to pick weapons against oppression and injustice, in order to establish peace. Mankind is uniquely defined as the ‘Best creation’ by Allah(SWT).His mercy and compassionate is so immense that He allows all of His creation to enter the eternal abode of bliss if they accept His message. How has its beauty achieved success? They say beauty is what beauty does. Muslims all over the world may not be the most practicing followers of their religion, but Muslims as a whole have the least number of alcoholics and rapists. Muslims are a whole community which is against pre-marital sex , adultery and homosexuality. It has the least number of gamblers and drug addicts. Jesus(Pbuh) in the bible offers a touchstone to judge communities when he says’ By the fruits ye shall judge them’. Islam, though not followed in totality and established universally has proven to be the most beautiful religion for mankind as its facets have established civil and just societies round the globe.

Bismillah The True message of Jesus(pbuh) -In the light of the Quran Allah(SWT) describes Jesus(pbuh) in no less than twenty –five different places and affirms that he is among the righteous and one of the mightiest messengers of God. Allah(SWT) in His holy book, the noble Quran also relates the story of Jesus(pbuh) from his miraculous birth to his ultimate rising. This mighty prophet set foot on this planet to deliver a divine message, the message proclaimed by all prophets preceding him, the true message of Jesus(pbuh) was the worship of one and only true God, Allah(SWT). These valuable teachings are parables for Muslims all over the world not only because they are the teachings of the Quran and the Last and final prophet of Allah(SWT) but also because they are the teachings of Jesus(pbuh).The message is vital to all mankind and is essential.Th The source of this divine knowledge, the Quran which is the only infallible and preserved book relating the message of Jesus(pbuh).The Quran is present from fourteen-hundred years, in its original language of revelation- Arabic preserved from the time it was revealed till date. This ultimate miracle, the word of God has been memorized by millions of Muslims round the globe at every time span from when it was revealed. The copy of the Quran as read today has three replicas which are exactly the same word to word, letter to letter as the earliest copies found dating back to twenty years after the death of the prophet(pbuh).This divine guidance has been preserved from fourteen centuries can be said safely from the fact that historical records even Non-Muslim records affirm that the Quran was written down as it was revealed during the lifetime of the prophet(pbuh) and was memorized by his companions. Till today, there are no discrepancies, alterations or different versions existing of this preserved book of God. It is a book in which there is no doubt. Furthermore, to affirm it’s divine source there are no contradictions or errors in this Holy book. Not a single verse of the Quran goes against modern established science. No book written by man can ever stand the test of time and the test of accuracy. Do they not consider the Qur'an (with care)? Had it been from other Than Allah, they would surely have found therein Much discrepancy.Holy Quran Surah An nisa 4:82 Allah(SWT) makes it an article of faith for every Muslim to believe that Jesus Christ(pbuh) is one of the mightiest messenger of God. No Muslim is a Muslim if he does not believe in Jesus Christ(pbuh).He(SWT) affirms that Jesus(pbuh) was given the Gospel as a guidance to the children of Israel. Allah(SWT) says in the Holy Quran that Jesus(pbuh) says Is Surah Ale Imran 3:51 "'It is Allah Who is my Lord and your Lord; then worship Him. This is a Way that is straight.'" Say: "O People of the Book! come to common terms as between us and you: That we worship none but Allah; that we associate no partners with him; that we erect not, from among ourselves, Lords and patrons other than Allah." If then they turn back, say ye: "Bear witness that we (at least) are Muslims (bowing to Allah's Will).Surah Ale Imran 3:64 Allah(SWT) has conveyed through His messenger Jesus(pbuh) that he alone is worthy of worship and Lord of all creation. He(SWT) describes the worship of any other object or being other than himself as utter injustice and a grievous sin. In blasphemy indeed are those that say that Allah is Christ the son of Mary. Say: "Who then hath the least power against Allah, if His will were to destroy Christ the son of Mary, his mother, and all every - one that is on the earth? For to Allah belongeth the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between. He createth what He pleaseth. For Allah hath power over all things.(Surah Al Maeda 5:72") Allah says in the Quran in Surah AlIkhlas 112:3 ‘He (SWT) begets not nor is he begotten’ begetting is an animal act and cannot be attributed to God. Moreover God by definition id ever –Living, with no beginning and no end. If it is agreed upon, for the sake of argument, that God had begotten a son, this ‘son of God’ would be a created being and not a God at all. God almighty does not have attribute which make Him similar to His creation in a away that signifies weakness and ungodliness on His part. Islam is also against the concept of ‘God turning into a human being’. God and His creation, man are different in their very existence. God is the creator having no beginning and no end, the ever-living without requiring a creator as He is uncreated. On the contrary, man is a created in being having a beginning and an end. He is bound by the constraints of time and space, whereas God is different from His creation by not being bound by these constraints. Therefore God cannot become man and set foot on this Earth, as it is not possible to have a being that is mortal and immortal at the same time it would be illogical. Similarly, man is dependent on worldly things for sustenance, he needs food and water to survive , needs air to breathe, shelter to live etc, in other words he is dependent on things, as for God He is independent of His creation.(Surah Al Ikhlas 112:2). It is illogical to have a being that is dependant on something as well as completely independent. A man has qualities that are distinct and cannot be attributed to God, like forgetfulness, erring, tiring, fear , etc these are definitely ungodly characteristics. The Quran is explicit in explaining the illogical nature of anthropomorphism. O People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion: Nor say of Allah aught but the truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no more than) a messenger of Allah, and His Word, which He bestowed on Mary, and a spirit proceeding from Him: so believe in Allah and His messengers. Say not "Trinity" : desist: it will be better for you: for Allah is one Allah: Glory be to Him: (far exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs.(Suraah An nisa 4:171) Jesus(pbuh) preached to the children of Israel, the existence of one God and called them to worship Him alone. This was the noble work of all prophets at all times. There was no difference in the fundamental belief of any of them. Adam, Noah, Moses, Jacob, David and Jesus and the Last of them Muhammad (Peace be upon them all) preached and called their people to the worship and obedience of one God, the creator of all existing things. If God existed as three in one nature, then the message of all these prophets who were sent by god would have been this very concept. The concept speaks of the father a being, the son another different being and Holy Ghost another being all being the same being one God. We see that father is a spiritual being and the son a man has flesh and blood, they by any means show no similarity or resemblance to take up the function or characteristics of one another.If they are different in existence and function and are different all together how can they be termed as a single god. The concept clearly says that there is only one god, not three gods, it is completely baseless to argue that three entirely different beings have formed one God. Islam forbids men to adhere to such a belief. Allah(SWT) says to all mankind through His revelation that He is one and only, He is independent of His creation, He begets not nor is He begotten and there is nothing comparable to anything. The serves as the absolute touchstone of theology, the infallible truth and definition of God almighty.

The Significance Of Fulfilling The Needs Of Your Felllow Muslims It was related on the authority of Abu Hurairah, radiyallahu 'anhu, that the Prophet, sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam, said: "Whosoever relieves from a believer some grief pertaining to this world, Allah will relieve from him some grief pertaining to the Hereafter. Whosoever alleviates the difficulties of a needy person who cannot pay his debt, Allah will alleviate his difficulties in both this world and the Hereafter. Whosoever conceals the faults of a Muslim, Allah will conceal his faults in this world and the Hereafter. Allah will aid a servant (of His) so long as the servant aids his brother. Whosoever follows a path to seek knowledge therein, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise. No people gather together in one of the houses of Allah, reciting the Book of Allah and studying it among themselves, except that tranquility descends upon them, mercy covers them, the angels surround them, and Allah makes mention of them amongst those who are in His presence. Whosoever is slowed down by his deeds will not be hastened forward by his lineage." [Muslim] Background This hadith was recorded by Imam Muslim by the above text. However, there is another version of the hadith where it was recorded by both Imam Muslim and Imam al-Bukhari with the following text: "A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim - he does not wrong him nor does he forsake him when he is in need; whosoever is fulfilling the needs of his brother, Allah is fulfilling his needs; whosoever removes distress from a believer, Allah removes from him a distress from a distressful aspect of the Day of Resurrection; and whosoever conceals the faults of a Muslim, Allah will conceal his faults on the Day of Resurrection." We see that in this hadith the obligations towards other Muslims are emphasised and the fulfillment of brotherhood is again stressed. Lessons "Whosoever relieves from a believer some grief pertaining to this world, Allah will relieve from him some grief pertaining to the Hereafter." This means that the reward of an act is of a similar nature to the act itself. Or the reward to the act is relevant to the act itself or from the same type. There are many hadiths that emphasise this principle. Grief or distress in this hadith means a great difficulty or hardship a Muslim is facing. In one version of the hadith, it is stated as "whosoever relieves" and in another version "whosoever removes". There is obviously a difference between the two versions because 'to relief' means to minimise the difficulty or distress, whereas 'to remove' means to totally eradicate the difficulty or hardship. Ibn Rajab says the one who successfully removes a grief or distress that a Muslim is encountering will be rewarded more than the one who helps and tries his best to minimise the consequences of a certain difficulty. This is natural because there are two different situations: The first one is related to the capacity of the person who is able only to minimise the distress. The other situation is not just a matter of capacity but also a willingness to do more to remove the distress totally. Ibn Rajab emphasises that we have to motivate Muslims to help others and to remove the distress or difficulties of one another. The Prophet, sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam, says that the reward for the removal or relief of the distress of a Muslim will be rewarded by a removal of a similar distress or difficulty in the Hereafter. Ibn Rajab questions the difference between the two situations where in the first one the hadith mentioned only the relief or removal of the distressful aspect of the Hereafter and not in this world. He says that not everyone is subject to such distress in this world - this is contrasted to ale'sar (unable to repay). He explains that since the difficulties of this life are incomparable to the distress aspects of the Hereafter (which nobody can endure as it is beyond human capacity), Allah reserves the reward for removing a distress of a distressful aspect of this life until the Day of Judgment. "Whosoever alleviates the difficulties of a needy person who cannot pay his debt, Allah will alleviate his difficulties in both this world and the Hereafter." Here, it is not wise or appropriate for a Muslim to demand his money back from a poor or needy Muslim who honestly cannot afford to pay him. He should either give him a chance until he is able to repay his money or forgive him. The first choice is an obligation because Allah commands us to do so in Surah al-Baqarah, Ayah 280. The second way of alleviation is that the person who is owed the money might forgive the borrower and try to help him not just by giving him more time but also by reducing the amount of money owed or forgiving him. The Prophet, sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam, says in one of his great hadiths: "A man of the previous nations was very rich and people used to borrow money from him. Not only did he lend them money, which is indeed a good deed, but he also asked his sons to alleviate and forgive those who could not repay the money." The Prophet, sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam, says that in the Hereafter Allah will reward him and forgive his sins because of his generosity. Allah says in Surah al-Furqan, Ayah 26 that "it will be a very hard day for the disbelievers". This means that there is a situation where a person who is kind to those in need and Allah will relief that person by rewarding him a great reward from Allah's Mercy and Help. "Whosoever conceals the faults of a Muslim, Allah will conceal his faults in this wold and the Hereafter." Ibn Rajab says that people can fall into two categories: Those who are not known for transgression or committing bad deeds. For these people, if by any chance they commit a mistake, it should not be revealed. On the contrary, it should be concealed and not even talked about. Those who are very well known as transgressors or wrongdoers, and who even speak proudly about their shameful and sinful acts. Ibn Rajab mentions that if there is a need to mention the qualities of these people, we should do so for the benefit of the Muslim community. The statement in this hadith does not apply to the second category of people. The general rule that we derive from the hadith is that Muslims should not reveal the mistakes of their Muslim brothers to others. Some Muslims today take it as a topic for fun and entertainment to reveal the mistakes of others even on very minor issues. As Muslims we should refrain ourselves from such acts. Consequently, the reward will be that Allah will conceal our faults from others. In this life we are subject to faults. If we do not conceal the faults of others, Allah will put us in a situation where our faults will be exposed to other people and everyone will be talking about them. So the punishment is relevant or of the same nature of the act if it is a bad act. Another thing that is also worth mentioning is the faults of the ulama' or scholars. Nowadays we can notice a very strange attitude coming from some seekers of knowledge who try to find out and reveal the mistakes of very well-known scholars. This sort of situation is even worse because they are revealing the mistakes of not just regular persons. If it is a matter of academic discussion or research, we should handle it in an appropriate way that upholds the status of our scholars. "Allah will aid a servant (of His) so long as the servant aids his brother." This statement is a principle. Before this statement, the Prophet, sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam, gives us three examples of Allah helping those who help others. But should we confine ourselves only to the needy mentioned in the hadith? Of course not. The Prophet, sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam, wants to convey to us that we should help our brothers in any way possible. There are hundreds of forms of need. The greater the help, the greater the reward. This is something that Muslims should take seriously because if we have a community which care about each other and help one another, then there would be no needy. This should be our attitude - we should seek to be motivated to offer our help at any time to our Muslim brothers. "Whosoever follows a path to seek knowledge therein, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise." Here we can find the encouragement of Islam in seeking and gaining knowledge. The knowledge seekers will be rewarded if the knowledge is beneficial to oneself as well as for the betterment of the Muslim community. This statement of the hadith can be interpreted in 3 ways: Allah will make it easy for the knowledge seeker to gain the knowledge that he is seeking. Allah will make it easy for the knowledge seeker so that he will benefit from the knowledge he is seeking. This means that he will benefit from the knowledge and this will lead him to enter Paradise. There are many people who seek knowledge but there are no blessings in the knowledge they seek. The crucial point here is the person should seek knowledge with good intentions. For the one who seeks knowledge with good intentions, Allah will safely help him go through the horrible incidents and situations on the Day of Judgment. Ibn Rajab classifies ilm (knowledge) into two types: The outcome of knowledge is placed in the heart. That is the knowledge about Allah and His attributes that implies fearing Allah, glorifying Him, and loving Him. The knowledge that we merely memorise or speak about - without our hearts being influenced or affected. This means that if the person does not abide by the knowledge that he has already obtained, then he is in a very critical situation where the he may be subject to the punishment of Allah. "No people gather together in one of the houses of Allah, reciting the Book of Allah and studying it among themselves, except that tranquility descends upon them, mercy covers them, the angels surround them, and Allah makes mention of them amongst those who are in His presence." Here the hadith implies a preferable act: to go to the mosque, to recite and study the Qur'an, or attending lectures. Ibn Rajab says that this can be applied to all branches of knowledge and not just the Qur'an. The hadith mentions four rewards for those who gather in the mosque: Tranquility - this is a great reward which includes relief from stress and being calm. The Mercy of Allah over them. The angels surrounding them. Allah making mention of them amongst those who are in His presence. "Whosoever is slowed down by his deeds will not be hastened forward by his lineage." This indicates that doing deeds are the means of getting the rewards and that will lead a person to Paradise. Allah says: "For all shall be judged against their actions". If the good deeds are not enough, the person's lineage or ancestry will not benefit him. This is because Allah made rewards related to good deeds and not lineage. No ties of kinship will prevail amongst them. [surah al-Mu'minun: Ayah 101] Conclusion "A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim; he does not wrong him nor does he forsake him when he is in need; whosoever is fulfilling the needs of his brother, Allah is fulfilling his needs." This version of the hadith starts by stating a great principle: Muslims are brothers - one will not harm another nor will he do injustice or fail him when he is in need. Then the hadith states a motivation factor: Whosoever is fulfilling the needs of his brother, Allah is fulfilling his needs. This version is more than simply stating a principle - it can be taken as a motivation for helping other Muslims, especially those who are in need. We just need to imagine the situation of the ummah when we help each other and fulfill the needs of others. We will end up being a better society, with less needy people, and stronger social ties that will lead to the strength of the Muslim ummah at large.
