Q: I heard that to read Salaah in the last saff of janaza is most rewarding. If yes, what is the evidence of which saff is most rewarding? A: Yes. The reason for this is that the janaazah Salaah is in reality a dua (an intercession) to Allah Ta'ala to forgive the sins of the deceased. The intercession of the one who displays the most amount of humility receives the greatest reward. Naturally the one who is at the end outwardly seems to be the most humble. And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

Q: Once I was Imam of Esha prayer, my wudhu broke after the second rakat. I did not know what to do, so I completed the namaz. Now what do I do? There were 11 people behind me. A: The namaaz will have to be repeated. You should inform all those who performed Salaah behind you to repeat their Salaah. And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best. Q: I wanted to ask on behalf of my mum. She reads namaaz and she reads while seated on a chair. She had a back operation and she can't bend down and her back has metal plates put in. Is it allowed that she does namaaz while seated on a chair with the musallah on the floor and performing namaaz with actions? A: It is permissible for her to perform Salaah in this way. And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best. . . Question asalaam aleiqum, the ayat of fasting is it been sent to the umma, muslims , or beleivers of islam jazaaka ALLAH KHEIRAN Answer Answer: In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh. Fasting is an act of worship (ibadat). It is one of the Fundamental Principles (Pillars) of Islam. Allah Subhana wa Ta’Ala says:[1]”Oh you who believe fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed to those before you that you may attain Taqwa (God-Fearing).” Allah Subhana wa Ta’Ala says Oh you who believe. This is a general command for everyone who are Believers in Islam. The command is that they should fast.(Mariful Quran – Maktaba-eDarul-Uloom; pg. 454) And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best Mawlana Saeed Ahmed Golaub Westmoreland, Jamaica, West Indies Student Darul Iftaa Checked and Concurred by, Moulana Ismail Desai daruliftaa.net

Question Do you have to do sixty consecutive days of fasting for a single intentionally broken or missed fast? What if someone when he was young, but has reached puberty, did not take his deen seriously and broke around thirty fasts intentionally over the years or did not keep some fast intentionally? Does that mean sixty days of consecutive fast for each broken or missed fast? Answer In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. As-salāmu ‘alaykumwa-rahmatullāhiwa-barakātuh. If a Muslim deliberately breaks his fast during Ramadan with no justifiable reason in Sharī῾āh, then he has to compensate by paying Kaffārah (expiation) for the sin. The Kaffārah (expiation) for a broken fast, which is in addition to making up the fast for the missed day is sixty consecutive days. If the sixty days is interrupted without a legitimate Shar῾ī reason, then one has to recommence the sixty days.[1] If one is unable to fast the sixty days for a legitimate Shar῾ī reason e.g., old age or a chronic illness that makes fasting very hard then the person can do one of the following: Feed sixty poor people two full meals a day Feed one poor person two meals a day for sixty days Give sixty poor people 3.5lbs, or 1.6kgs of wheat, flour, fine flour or its value in cash or feed one poor person for sixty days. Give sixty poor people 7.5lbs or 3.5kgs of dry dates, barley or its value in cash or feed one poor person for sixty days.[2] All of this is based on one’s average consumption. The food should not be beyond one’s normal amount of consumed food, neither should it be extravagant or inferior.[3] If a Muslim deliberately misses a fast during Ramadan, this results in compensating for the missed fast by fasting one day ONLY, no Kaffārah (expiation) will occur in this situation. If more then one fast of Ramadan is broken by eating or drinking or copulating with the spouse, one will be required to compensate with one Kaffārah (expiation) by observing sixty consecutive fast and one qadhā῾.[4] And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best Mufti Zaid Mohammed Shelia, Student Darul Iftaa USA Checked and Approved by, MuftiEbrahim Desai. www.daruliftaa.net 3/ 75 http://askimam.org/public/question_detail/19624

Fiqh of I'tikaaf I'TIKAAF means to enter the Masjid with the Niyyat of residing therein. (MU'TAKIF: One who makes I'TIKAAF). PURPOSE OF I'TIKAAF The basic purpose of I`tikaaf is that the heart gets attached to Allah and, with it, one attains inner composure and serenity; and pre-occupation with the mundane things of life ceases, and focus on the eternal reality develops in its place. And such a state is reached in which all fears, hopes and apprehensions are superseded by love, devotion, and remembrance of Allah. Rasulullah P.B.U.H. always observed I`tikaaf and the Muslims have on a whole adhered to it. It has become a regular feature of the month of Ramadan and a confirmed practice with the devout and the faithful. Aishah (ra) relates that “Rasulullah P.B.U.H regularly observed I`tikaf during the last ten days of Ramadan till the end of his life. After him, his wives maintained the tradition”. (Bukhari and Muslim) REWARD OF I`TIKAF Ibn Abbas narrates that Rasulullah P.B.U.H said:“Whoever walks to fulfil the needs of his brother, this is better for him than performing I`tikaf for ten years. And whoever performs I`tikaf for (just) one day, seeking Allah’s pleasure, Allah will place three trenches between him and the fire of Hell. Each trench is wider than the distance between the Two Wings (the expanse of the East and West).” (Tabarani & Bayhaqi) Types of I'tikaaf 1. Wajib - To Vow or pledge to make I'TIKAAF (on a fixed day) for the sake of Allah upon the fulfilment of some wish or desire. The least duration of a WAJIB I'tikaaf is one day and night and it must be accompanied by a fast. 2. Sunnat-ul-Muakkeda - To reside the last ten nights and days of Ramadhaan in the Masjid is SUNNATUL MUAKKADAH ALAL KIFAYAH i.e. If a person from the community fulfils the obligation of I'tikaaf the entire community will be absolved of this sacred duty. Otherwise all the residents will be sinful of neglecting this SUNNAT of our NABI . 3. Mustahab or Nafil - This 1'tikaaf can be for any amount of time, even for a few minutes. No fast (Roza) is conditional for MUSTAHAB or NAFL I'tikaaf. Conditions of I'tikaaf Islam. Sane i.e. a person should not be mad. Taharat. To be free from HADASE AKBAR. Niyyat. Intention. Things permitted during I’tikaaf Eating. Sleeping. Discussing matters of Deen or necessary talk. It is MAKROOH to observe complete silence as a form of IBADAT (worship). One is permitted to leave the Musjid For WAJIB Ghusl. For Wudhu. To answer the call of nature (toilet). LEAVING THE MUSJID without a valid Shar'ee reason will nullify the I'tikaaf. Things to do during I'tikaaf A Mu'takif should engage himself in Ibaadat. Recital of the Holy Quraan. NAFL Salaat and Zikr. Durood Sharif and Istighfaar. Remembrance of Allah Ta'ala. Learn or teach the knowledge of deen. I'tikaaf for Women A woman should perform I'tikaaf in her home at the place where she performs her daily Salaat or any suitable place. Niyyah for Nafl I’tikaaf I intend making I’tikaaf for Allah till the I remain in the Musjid Source: The above has beem taken from the famous book Taleemul Haq http://mathabah.org/20120218721/hanafi-fasting-sawm/fiqh-of-itikaaf-hanafi.html

Q: Is the responsibility of Zakat a strictly individual responsibility or can it be joint say in the case of husbands and wives? May 28, 2013 Q: Is the responsibility of Zakat a strictly individual responsibility or can it be joint say in the case of husbands and wives? A: Zakat is strictly a personal obligation. Even in jointly owned wealth the obligation of zakat remains personal. Thus, if a husband and wife jointly own a zakatable asset, zakat will only be payable for each if his/her ownership proportion reaches the level of nisab, either of itself or in conjunction with his/her other zakatable asset/s if any. However, the husband and wife may agree to pay the zakat of each other. And Allah knows best. Is it permissible to give Zakah to someone in the form of food vouchers instead of cash? January 21, 2013 Q: Is it permissible to give Zakah to someone in the form of food vouchers instead of cash? A: It is permissible to give food vouchers instead of cash. However, the Zakah will only be discharged once the recipient receives the food. A food voucher is an assignment of debt against the issuer of the food voucher (food provider) and is not wealth in itself. Thus, the receipt of the food voucher by the recipient does not discharge the obligation of Zakah. Upon receipt of the food the recipient possesses the food on behalf of the transferor (i.e., person giving the voucher) and then for him/herself. 5/152-153) And Allah knows best.
