  1. The Path of Protecting One’s Deen and Honour – the Path of Abstaining from Doubtful Areas الحلال بين والحرام بين وبينهما مشبهات لا يعلمها كثير من الناس فمن اتقى المشبهات استبرأ لدينه وعرضه إلخ Halaal is clear and haraam is clear, and between halaal and haraam are such things which are doubtful and many people do not know it. The one who abstains from these doubtful things will protect his Deen and his honour. Hazrat Shaikh Moulana Muhammad Zakariyya (rahmatullahi ‘alaih) once quoted the above Hadith and thereafter explained: The essence of this Hadith is for one to obtain the quality of Taqwa. If anything is unclear and doubtful, and some Ulama regard it to be permissible while other Ulama rule it to be impermissible, then it is best for one to refrain from it and leave it out without becoming involved in an argument with any person. This is also understood from another Hadith in which Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said, “Leave out those things regarding which you are doubtful, and choose those things regarding which you have no doubt.” (Suhbat Baa Awliyaa pg. 97)

  2. Never forget: • When you are hurt by people who share the same blood as you, just remember Yusuf (alayhissalam), who was betrayed by his own brothers. • If you find your parents opposing you, remember Ibrahim (alayhissalam), whose father led him to the fire. • If you're stuck with a problem where there's no way out, remember Yunus (alayhissalam), stuck in the belly of a whale. • When someone slanders you , remember Aisha (radi Allahu 'anha) who was slandered throughout the city. • If you're ill your body cries with pain, remember Ayoub (alayhissalam) who was more ill than you. • When you are lonely, recall Adam (alayhissalam) who was created alone. • When you cant see the logic around you, think of Nuh (alayhissalam)who built an Ark without questioning. • If you are mocked by your own relatives, family, friends and the world at large, then remember our dear Prophet Muhammad (sallAllahu 'alayhi wasallam). Allah put these prophets to trial so that generations will persevere in patience.

  3. There are seven characteristics that Allaah and His Messenger (peace be upon him) mentioned about the salaah of the hypocrites: 1) They stand in salaah lazily. 2) They only remember Allaah a little in the salaah. 3) They show off for the people (i.e. they pray to be seen). 4) They don’t fear Allaah. 5) They don’t establish the salaah at its proper time. 6) They don’t perform the prayer in congregation. 7) They don’t have any tranquility in the salaah, instead they peck like a bird. May Allah free our hearts from hypocrisy. (Ameen)
